    • PURPOSE: To obtain a high-lug (deep-groove) tire of a high quality with limited fluidization of rubber during the vulcanization by partially cutting off the tread portion of an green tire to form a pattern groove before the unvulcanized tire is mounted into a mold to vulcanize.
      CONSTITUTION: The treaded portion of an green tire 5 is partially cut off to form a pseudo pattern groove in a roughly complementary relationship with the shaped surface of a vulcanization mold. Then, the green tire 5 is mounted in the vulcanization mold making the pseudo pattern roughly coincide with the shaped surface to vulcanize. A tread cutter of the green tire 5 is equipped with support means 6 and 11 adapted to move the green tire 5 circumferentially while supporting it 5 from inside, tread cutting devices 83 and 84 and cutter driving means 33W37 and the like.

    • PURPOSE:To improve wet gripping performance, wear resistance and draining performance, by providing a plurality of splits tilting to the equator of a tire extending over about a whole width of a tread surface of the tire after vulcanization of a green cover tire. CONSTITUTION:A green cover tire which is made into a toroidal state by combining a carcass 7, a belt layer 8, a bead part and a tread part 2 on a molding drum is arranged in a metal die by a conventional method for vulcanization. Then a slit 9 is processed on an original tire taken out of the metal die by a cutter. The slit 9 can be formed without having groove width substantially by a notch crossing a protruded part between main grooves 4, 4 of a tread part 2 provided by making use of cutters such as a comparatively thin knife and bit. Then the slit 9 is provided on a tire in a tilting state to the equator C of the tire 1 extended over a whole width of the tire 1.

SOLUTION: The grooving cutter 1 for cutting a desired pattern groove on the surface of a rotating tire comprises: a core 2 made of a strip formed in a U shape; and a thin blade material 3 slidably covering around the core 2. The core 2 preferably serves as a heat source, and more preferably serves as the heat source by supplying electric power to the core 2.
