    • PURPOSE:To simplify the structure and to make it possible to carry out the adjustment or change without scattering the siping depth, by providing an arcuate sliding sled having a prescribed curvature that can be reciprocated in the direction normally to the siping direction, and projecting siping cutters into a prescribed maximum siping depth. CONSTITUTION:A cutter table 9 of a siping apparatus B is guided in a reciprocative manner in the siping direction by a pair of front and rear guide rods 43, 43 supported by a bracket 42... on a truck 10 and is reciprocated by a cylinder 44 fixed to the truck 10. The reciprocative positions are limited by limit switches 41a, 41b.     • PURPOSE:To achieve a labor saving, a lower cost and a uniform tread pattern by automatically cutting the tread pattern based on information, namely, the lateral and longitudinal movements in respective cut grooves of the tread pattern memorized into a computer. CONSTITUTION:The lateral and longitudinal movements and angles of a knife 11 for respective cut grooves are memorized into an outer memory device 21 of a microcomputer 15 as information for a tread pattern to be formed on the circumferential surface of 1a of a tire 1. As the tire 1 is rotated, a timing pulse is generated from a timing pulse generator 16 according to the angle of rotation. In response to the timing pulse, a motor 6 for longitudinal movement and a motor 8 for lateral movement are controlled by a control signal from a central proessing unit 18.
