In this way, in accordance with the variations in the diameters of the work rolls, support rolls and supporting bearings and variation in the amount of offset of the work roll, the supporting frames are moved so that the straight line which connects the axial center of the work roll and the axial center of the support roll is always passed through approximately the middle between the axial centers of the supporting bearings which are zigzag arranged.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a device in size as well as a cost in manufacturing by providing sheet-width meters to the front and rear sides of a scale breaker for the purpose of controlling the driving force of tension rolls and regulating the elongation of a strip in accordance with the change of its width. CONSTITUTION:Tension rolls 2, 3, 8, 9 for imposing a tension on a strip 1 are arranged at the front and rear sides of a scale breaker 5, and sheet-width meters 19, 20 are also provided to respective sides. The sheet width of strip 1 is detected by the meter 19, and its detection signal is inputted to a controller 21 together with a target sheet-width signal. The tension of strip 1 in the scale breaker 5 is changed by increasing or decreasing the driving force of a motor 17 for the rolls 2, 3 or a motor 18 for the rolls 8, 9 based on the computed results of controller 21, to keep the sheet width constant. By this method, the need for side trimming is eliminated, the device is reduced in size, and the running cost is also reduced.

CONSTITUTION:Detectors 31, 31' generate signal 36, 36' corresponding to each detecting body 32, 32' when a coupling 22 rotates, and detect a real rotational direction of a work roll 20. The detected signals 36, 36' are inputted to an operational comparator 33, and outputted only while a rotational direction detecting signal 42 and an operating signal 40 are being inputted. When the signal from the comparator 33 is a forward turn, a stop control is executed as it is, and on the other hand, when the signal from the operational comparator 33 detects a reverse, a driving machine 26 is brought to a driving control in the forward turn direction. That is to say, by repeating a reverse preventing action of the work roll in this way, a control device 34 controls the driving machine 26 so that a reverse of the work roll 20 is not caused at the time of a stop of a mill, based on an input data from the operational comparator 33 and an input data from a pilot generator 35.

Therefore, the rewinding machine 6 is revolved in a normal rotative direction, after shifting the rewinder drum B from right downward to left upward as shown in illustration, the succeeding coil 1' is inserted into the rewinder drum B. Next, the machine 6 reversely revolves this drum B and again situates the rewinder drum A at the left upper position while the rewinder drum B at the right lower position, respectively, whereby it performs a tip process of the succeeding coil 1' during rewinding the preceding coil 1. That is to say, these coils 1 and 1' are rewound and, after a top end of a strip is corrected by a reformer 2 and an end plate part of an on-off gauge or the like is cut off by double-cut shear 3, passed to a welder 5.
