摘要： For providing a combustion control device capable of decreasing unburned HC caused by a fuel attaching to a bore wall of a cylinder and unburned HC/CO produced by excessive diffusion of the fuel in premixed charge compression ignition combustion, an injector control unit of an ECU controls an injector so as to start an initial fuel injection when a crank angle corresponds to an initial fuel injection start time, i.e., a time when a piston 4 arrives at such a position that the fuel injected from the injector reaches a lip 7 but falls short of reaching a bore wall face 3a of a cylinder 3, and terminate a final injection when the crank angle corresponds to a final fuel injection end time, i.e., a time when the piston 4 arrives at such a position that the fuel injected from the injector reaches the lip 7 but falls short of reaching a region below the lip 7 in a cavity 6a.

摘要： An HCCI engine operated in HCCI and SI combustion modes. The engine includes an external EGR apparatus for performing external EGR. A control unit executes combustion control by specifying either one of HCCI and SI combustion ranges based on the driving state of the engine and a combustion range map for specifying the combustion range in accordance with the driving state. The map includes the HCCI and SI combustion ranges and a switch preparation combustion range, which is included in the SI combustion range and extends along a boundary between the SI combustion range and the HCCI combustion range. The control unit lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber when the switch preparation combustion range is specified by reducing the amount of internal EGR or performing the external EGR.

A recycling device (46) returns a fraction of the burned gases, which would otherwise be released from the combustion chamber during the exhaust stroke. It returns them back into the combustion chamber, during the subsequent inlet stroke.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression ignition internal combustion engine in which an inside EGR can be carried out only at the time of compression ignition combustion by a simple control, while suppressing the cost in the cam-type engine. SOLUTION: The compression ignition internal combustion engine comprises intake valves 10, 11, and a 1st exhaust valve 12 and a 2nd exhaust valve 13. The intake valves 10, 11 are provided respectively to a 1st intake port 6a and a 2nd intake port 6b of a combustion chamber 1, and driven for opening/closing by cams. The 1st exhaust valve 12 and the 2nd exhaust valve 13 are provided respectively to a 1st exhaust port 9a and a 2nd exhaust port 9b, and driven for opening/closing by cams. In a 2nd intake branched-path 5b, a selection valve 15 is provided to be closed only in the exhaust stroke at spark-ignition combustion time. In the exhaust stroke, both the exhaust valves 12, 13 are opened in the compression ignition combustion and the spark ignition combustion, and beside the 2nd intake valve 11 is also opened.
