    • PURPOSE:To provide a compressor which is prevented from deficiency in its cooling capacity in the low number of revolutions region of an engine, in a compressor which is belt-driven by means of an engine for running a vehicle serving as a power supply. CONSTITUTION:Intermediate pulleys 7 and 8, an electromagnetic clutch 11, and a drive switching control device 19 are disposed in the drive system of a compressor 12 belt-driven with the aid of an engine 1. Through operation of an electromagnetic clutch 11 operated according to the number of revolutions of an engine, a method for driving a compressor is such that switching to either a method wherein a compressor 12 is driven directly by means of the engine 1 or a method wherein it is boost-driven through the intermediate pulleys 7 and 8 is practicable. This method prevents any deficiency in cooling capacity in the low number of revolutions of region of an engine, and produces an effect to suppress the increase of the size of the compressor.

    • PURPOSE:To suppress the relative movement between a coupling pin and a link and prevent a guide vane from being broken when it bites an extraneous substance and is hindered from revolving, by providing a brake comprising a spring and coupling pin seats on the top and bottom of the link. CONSTITUTION:Recesses 36, each of which has two slopes 33 per groove, are provided on the top of a link 3, which faces a seat 5. The seat 5 is provided with slopes 51 at a prescribed clearance delta1 to the slopes 33. When a guide vane bites an extraneous substance and is hindered from revolving and a weak 1 is broken and relative movement takes place between the link 3 and a coupling pin 2, the slopes of the link and the seat come into contact with each other and the link 3 and the coupling pin 2 move in parallel with each other along the slopes and the seat 5 loosely fitted on the coupling pin 2 is pushed up by another clearance delta2. As a result, the seats 5, 6 are thrusted on the link 3 by a spring 4 and the coupling pin does not drastically collide against a groove wall 34 or 35 of the link 3. An adjacent guide vane is thus prevented from being broken.

    • PURPOSE:To enable accurate break detection of a pin having a weak point by manipulating a switch by utilizing a relative movement produced by the break of a pin having a weak point for connecting two members. CONSTITUTION:In a case where a guide vane enmeshes foreign matters and a weak point 4 breaks, an axial core 11 of a plunger 7 relatively moves with an axial core of an engaging part 3A of the pin 3 having the weak point 3. In the middle of the movement, the distal end of the plunger 7 makes contact with an inclined surface 5, and the plunger 7 is pushed up along the inclined surface 5. At this time, the upward stroke quantity of the plunger 7 upon this occasion is X, and hence the plunger 7 makes X stroke, then, a position limiting switch 6 actuates and detects the break of the pin 3 having the weak point.
