    • The invention relates to a vehicle pedal unit (10), comprising a base element (12) and a pedal element (14) pivotably attached to the base element. In order to reduce the risk of injury to the driver in the event of a crash in a simple manner over the entire range of use, the base element (12) has at least one first and one second part (20, 24). The first part (20) is coupled to the pedal element (14) by means of a pivot axis (16). The first and second parts (20, 24) are connected to each other by means of a coupling element (26) made of metal in such a way that the first and second parts are fixed to each other during normal operation. At least one predetermined breaking point (40) is formed on the coupling element (26), such that when forces are applied in the event of a crash, the coupling element (26) breaks and the first and second parts (20, 24) can move in relation to each other.

    • The disclosure relates to a pedal support for a vehicle, comprising a bracket (9) which is secured in a bulkhead disposed in the vehicle between the passenger compartment of the vehicle and the engine room; a first shaft (3) secured in the bracket and horizontal and transversely directed in relation to the direction of travel of the vehicle; a pedal arm (2) provided with a footplate (23) and pivotal about the first shaft; an operating device (22) which is secured in the arm (2) a distance from the first shaft and which is disposed for manoeuvring or controlling a vehicle function, for example a braking function. According to the invention, the first shaft (3) is movably disposed in the bracket (9) in the direction of travel of the vehicle, the first shaft having a normal position locked by means of a locking device (13), and the locking device being, in the event of a collision, openable for permitting displacement of the first shaft (3) to a safety position where the footplate (23) is displaced away from the legs/feet of the vehicle driver but where the function of the operating device (22) is at least partly retained.

    • According to a pedal support structure (A), the slide comprises two slide portions constituted of the first and second contact points (103, 203) and the first and second guide faces (301 a, 404). Further, these contact portions (103, 203) and these guide faces (301 a, 404) are respectively located longitudinally separately from each other, and are located so as to be offset from each other in the vehicle width direction, whereby the first and second contact portions and the first and second guide faces can be located substantially horizontally.
      Accordingly, there can be provided the pedal support structure (A) which can improve flexibility of a layout of the guide face to guide a position change of a pedal bracket (200) and to make the structure compact.
