    • An assisting apparatus (14) for using power from a rotating member (534,616) to assist the operation of a bicycle transmission includes a mounting unit and an input transmission member (176,706) coupled to the mounting unit, wherein the input transmission member (176,706) moves to at least a first input position and a second input position. The first coupling member (324, 654) selectively engages and disengages the rotating member so that the rotational force of the rotating member may be used to assist the shifting operation.

    • A method for actuating a bicycle electronic gearshift, is disclosed, comprising the steps of:
      (a) receiving a signal (detected_heart_rate) indicative of the heart rate of a cyclist using the bicycle,
