摘要： A drive assembly for a kart, and a kart including the assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes an electric motor including an output shaft; an assembly housing surrounding the motor, the housing defining an aperture; an intermediate shaft rotatably disposed within the assembly housing; a driving gear removably disposed on the output shaft within the housing; a reduction gear removably disposed on the intermediate shaft within the housing; and a panel removably connected to the housing for selectively covering the aperture, the driving gear and the reduction gear being removable from the motor and the housing via the aperture when the panel is removed from the housing, the panel, the driving gear, and the reduction gear being disposed above a maximum level of transmission oil contained within the housing when the motor is not operating. A method of changing a kart transmission ratio is also disclosed.

摘要： An engine speed control system for a vehicle such as a go-kart in order to, independently of the driver, control the speed of the vehicle includes a butterfly valve which is moved by a stepper motor (70) upon receipt of over the air signals by a receiver (60) from a control station (50). The movement of the butterfly valve alters the amount of air and fuel drawn into the engine independent of control of a throttle assembly (22, 25) operated by the driver of the vehicle. Thus, the vehicle can be slowed from a control station (50) independently of the vehicle if necessary.

A first end member can be engaged with a first end of the shaft, and a second end member can be engaged with the second end of the shaft. The end members can be formed from a second material having a second modulus of elasticity greater than the first, such that the end members are adapted to withstand a rotational force. The end members can include splined connectors, hub flanges, and other similar components. The resulting axle shaft assembly can thereby include modular combinations of materials having low and high moduli of elasticity.

摘要： A transmission system for a vehicle that has multiple sets of driven wheels (18,24) is disclosed. The transmission system typically drives a first set (24) and a second set (18) of wheels. The transmission includes a disconnect unit (20) being operative, on application of a brake to the first set of wheels (24), to disconnect drive to the first set of wheels, while maintaining drive to the second set of wheels (18). The brake is typically a handbrake operative on the rear wheels. A disconnect unit is disclosed that can be operated by hydraulic pressure generated by manual operation of a handbrake lever, so avoiding the need to provide pump-generated hydraulic power. In a typical embodiment, the disconnect unit is disposed between a centre differential (14) and a rear differential (22). When the disconnect unit disconnects drive to the rear differential, the centre differential is preferably locked.
