摘要： A system for controlling a treatment device generates a graphical interface that visually prompts a user in a step-wise fashion to use the treatment device to perform a process of forming a pattern of lesions that extends both circumferentially and axially in different levels in a body region. The graphical interface displays for the user a visual record of the progress of the process from start to finish and guides the user so that so that individual lesions desired within a given level are all formed, and that a given level of lesions is not skipped.

摘要： Apparatus, systems, and methods provide access to the renal pelvis of a kidney to treat renal nerves embedded in tissue surrounding the renal pelvis. Access to the renal pelvis may be via the urinary tract or via minimally invasive incisions through the abdomen and kidney tissue. Treatment is effected by exchanging energy, typically delivering heat or extracting heat through a wall of the renal pelvis, or by delivering active substances to ablate a thin layer of tissue lining at least a portion of the renal pelvis to disrupt renal nerves within the tissue lining of the renal pelvis.

摘要： A surgical handpiece having two coaxial tubes or channels mounted within a body. The first tube is used for aspiration and is smaller in diameter than the second tube so as to create an annular passage between the first and second tube. The annular passage communicates with a pumping chamber formed between two electrodes. The pumping chamber works by boiling a small volume of the surgical fluid. As the fluid boils, it expands rapidly, thereby propelling the liquid downstream of the pumping chamber out of the annular passage. The distal end of the annular gap is sealed by sealing together the distal ends of the first and second tube and a plurality of orifices or ports may be formed near the seal. As the expanding gas is propelled down the annular gap, the gas/liquid stream is forced out of the distal orifices in a controlled and directed manner. The distal end of the first and second tubes may contain a bend.

The pumping chamber is capable of producing a fluid pulse characterized by; i) a pressure pulse force of between 0.000196 Newtons (0.02 grams) and 0.196 Newtons (20 grams), ii) a pressure pulse rise time rate of between 0.01 Newtons/second (1 gramf/second) and 196 Newtons/second (20,000 gramf/second), and iii) a pressure pulse frequency of between 10 Hz and 100Hz.

摘要： A thermal ablation catheter (10) includes an elongate body member (12) having a heating element (40) disposed over its distal end (16). The heating element (40) is suspended away the surface of the elongate member (12) to form a circulation region (20) thereunder. Thermally conductive fluid can be introduced through a lumen (28) in the elongate member (12) and distributed within the circulation region (20) to improve heat transfer. The catheter (10) introduces the thermally conductive medium to hollow organ where the heating element (40) raises the medium temperature sufficiently to induce injury to the organ lining. Optionally, an introducer sheath (50) having an expandable cage (56) may be used in combination with a thermal ablation catheter (10) to center the heating element (40) within the body organ and prevent direct contact with the organ wall. Heat transfer and temperature uniformity can be enhanced by inducing an oscillatory flow of the heat transfer medium through the catheter (10) while heat is being applied.
