摘要： Methods and systems for infusing a cooled infusate to a target location in a patient are described. A temperature of the blood and infusate admixture upstream of the catheter as well as at other locations along the catheter may be monitored and a feedback system utilized to control the volume, temperature, and/or infusion rate of the infusate so as to achieve a predetermined temperature at the target location. Control may also be based on the patient's native vessel flow rate. The system may monitor or calculate hematocrit upstream of the catheter and adjust infusion so as to provide sufficient oxygenation of the blood and infusate admixture. The system may also monitor reflux of the infusate past a distal end of the catheter and reduce infusion upon the detection of reflux.

Scaffolding (58) carried by the containment vessel (22) supports and elevates the skin to form a well above and extending into the abdomino-pelvic cavity. The containment vessel (22) has openings that are sealed around the patient's torso, a base sealed to a table (32) on which a patient is positioned, a removable cover (42), and a plurality of fluid ports (44) communicating through the containment vessel wall (28). A reservoir (92) provides perfusion fluid for delivery to the well by one of the fluid ports (44) and receives return fluid from fluid ports (46). A heater (98) can be used to heat perfusion fluid. An air evacuation system (120) can be connected to the fluid port (48) to evacuate gasses from within the containment vessel (22). The apparatus (20) can be used for repeated access to the abdomino-pelvic space in patients.

摘要： A wound therapy and tissue management system (2) utilizes fluid differentiation. Fluid is differentiated by establishing a gradient within the system (2). The gradient can be established with matter or energy. Patient interfaces (3) for establishing, maintaining and varying one or more gradients include transfer elements (8) with first (12) and second (18) zones having different flow coefficients. The transfer elements (8) exchange fluid with a patient, generally through a wound site (4), and with external components of the systems (2). Osmotic solution gradients are controlled by a methodology involving the present invention for extracting solutions, which can include toxins, from patients and for introducing fluids and sumping air to wound sites.
