    • The invention relates to a shift lever which is used to remotely operate the change of gear in a set of bicycle gears. Said shift lever comprises a housing part (1) and a cable winder (2) with a cable guide (4) which the bicycle user can operate in a winding rotational direction (A) to wind a cable (3), or in a releasing rotational direction (F) to release the cable. One end of the cable connects interactively with the cable winder, at least in one of the two rotational directions (A, F). The housing part has a bar (8) with a guiding edge (9) which together with the cable guide form a cable channel (14) for the cable, from which the cable cannot deviate, if the cable winder is actuated in the releasing rotational direction; this occurs if the other end of the cable is not pulled or taken up by the set of gears.

    • A multi-speed bicycle hub is combined with an operating mechanism. The operating mechanism is fastened to a hub shaft (116a).     • An automatic derailleur shifter system for example for a bicycle includes a hub (11) to which is attached a chain wheel (16) set and a derailleur system for moving the chain associated therewith from chain wheel to chain wheel for a gear changing system. Within the hub associated with the chain wheels is provided an automatic changing system including a member coupled to the chain wheel set which carries a helical screw (47) cooperating with the screw so that rotation of the screw relative to the sleeve (34) causes the sleeve to move axially. Axial movement of the sleeve is inhibited by a spring (78) and rotational movement of the sleeve is prevented by engagement with the hub. Thus variations in the torque applied from the chain set to the hub through the screw in the sleeve cause axial movement of the sleeve which actuates change of the gears by moving to the derailleur set. The spring can be internal to the hub or can be provided outside of the hub. In addition movement of the sleeve can cause rotational movement of a second screw member (60, 70) at an opposed end of the hub which can be used to change a front chain wheel set at the pedals.

    • A cable for a vehicle is provided. The cable includes a center line, a first sleeve, a second sleeve and an outmost sheath. The first sleeve is disposed around the center line and axially movable relative to the center line. The second sleeve is disposed around the first sleeve and axially movable relative to the first sleeve. The outmost sheath is disposed around the second sleeve, and the second sleeve is axially movable relative to the outmost sheath. Whereby, the friction caused due to the axial movement of the center line can be reduced so that the cable can be operated easily, smoothly and precisely; and the center line can be prevented from being damped and rusted so that the cable can function well and the durability thereof is enhanced.
