    • A projector is provided which can project a high quality image unaffected by dust, or the like, scattered in the projector by preventing the temperature of light-modulating elements from rising. Light transmissive plates are adhered to the light emitting surface of a liquid crystal panel for red light and the light emitting surface of a liquid crystal panel for green light. The amount of heat transmitted from the polarizing plates, which generate the heat, to the liquid crystal panels is reduced by the light transmissive plates. In addition, dust, scattered in the projector, does not stick onto the light emitting surfaces of the liquid crystal panels. In contrast, a light transmissive plate is not provided at the light emitting surface of liquid crystal panel for blue light having a high energy value per unit quantity of light. Thus, the problem of a light transmissive plate preventing heat dissipation at the liquid crystal panel is eliminated, so that efficient cooling can be achieved. The relative luminosity factor of blue light B is low, so that dust is not noticeable on the screen even when it sticks onto the light emitting surface of the liquid crystal panel.

    • Liquid crystal modulation elements are arranged so that light outgoing surfaces thereof face light incident surfaces of a color synthesizing prism. Transparent plates are bonded to the light outgoing surfaces of the liquid crystal modulation elements. For this reason, adhesion of dust to the light outgoing surfaces of the liquid crystal modulation elements can be prevented. Further, it is possible to prevent light reflection at the interface surface between the light outgoing surfaces and air due to the difference in refractive index therebetween. This allows a high-quality image to be projected without deteriorating the switching characteristic of the liquid crystal modulation elements while preventing dust from adhering to the light outgoing surfaces of the liquid crystal modulation elements.

    • A projector includes a first lens plate having a plurality of lenses, a second lens plate having a plurality of lenses, a light valve that modulates an output light beam from the second lens plate, and a light source apparatus. The light-source apparatus has a light-source lamp including an emission tube, a reflective mirror that reflects a divergent light beam from the light-source lamp to output a parallel light beam, the reflecting mirror having a reflective surface, a lamp housing that supports the reflective mirror, and an electrode lead. The electrode lead is led out of an end of the emission tube that is projected forward out of the reflective surface and is connected to an external connection terminal board which is positioned to a rear side of the reflective surface. The electrode lead is routed via the portion of the reflective mirror other than an effective area of the reflective mirror. A portion of the electrode lead positioned on the side of the reflective surface is arranged along a grove of a lens of the plurality of lenses of one of the first and second lens plate.
