    • This invention concerns reducing fan noise and preventing a light source, an optical element, and the like from deteriorating in a projector display device. The projection display device includes a light-source lamp unit, an optical system unit having a modulation device, a projection lens for enlarging and projecting an image formed by the optical system, a power supply unit for supplying electric power for driving the device, power supply intake fans, a modulation device intake fan, and exhaust fans. Fan noise can be reduced by driving only the power supply intake fans for a predetermined period after the device is powered on. Furthermore, the light-source lamp, the optical elements, and the like can be prevented from deteriorating by controlling the rotation speeds of the other fans based on detected temperatures detected by temperature sensors.

    • A projector is provided in which the production of an outer casing is facilitated, cooling efficiency is maintained well, and the outward appearance is preferable. A dustproof ventilating member is mounted in a clearance formed between the rim of an opening of a front casing forming an outer casing, and a projection lens. For this reason, cooling air can be reliably drawn into a device via the ventilating member. Since this eliminates the necessity for forming a meshed air inlet in the outer casing, the production of the outer casing is facilitated, and the manufacturing operation of the projector is easily performed. Moreover, cooling efficiency is maintained well, and the outward appearance is made preferable.

    • A cooling system for a video projector having a high degree of cooling efficiency and preventing an operator from being exposed to hot exhaust air. The system having a case; an intake formed on the case; an outlet formed on the case; a radial fan having an intake side and an exhaust side communicated with the outlet, for blowing air in a direction orthogonal to a rotary shaft thereof; and a cooling duct having an opening opened to a component to be cooled therearound located in the case, and another opening communicated with the intake side of the radial fan. The radial fan induces a negative pressure in the case so as to take a cooling air from outside into inside of the case and to lead the cooling air so as to pass around the component to be cooled before it is directly led into the radial fan through the cooling duct in order to discharge the cooling air outside of the case.

The cover structure may be disposed on the image output apparatus for discharging and guiding the heated airflow inner the image output apparatus. The cover structure includes a first device and a second device. The first device is disposed on a housing of the image output apparatus and corresponds to a blowhole of the housing to mask a portion of the light emitted from the blowhole. The other portion of the light leaks from the first device to form a leakage light. The second device corresponds to an outer side of the first device to mask the leakage light.
