    • PURPOSE:To enable a mirror image to be printed by use of a printer for general use, by providing a means for switching a normal image and a mirror image from one to the other, and a means for reversing the vertical relative moving directions of a printing head and a printing material. CONSTITUTION:It is presumed that a printing head is fixed with respect to vertical directions and a printing material is moved upward at the time of printing a normal image. When a mirror image printing switch 18 is set in a mirror image position, a moving direction-reversing circuit 19 reversely rotates an LF (line feed) motor 7, whereby the head is moved downward. In the case of a line printer, merely performing the above operation results in that characters be printed are printed in the form of mirror images inverted upside down without any change in printing information. When the printing material is rotated by 180 deg. and observed, the printed result as a whole is a mirror image. In the case of a matrix printer, a means is further provided for converting the vertical positional relationships of dots of a printing head, as compared with those in the case of printing a normal image, whereby the characters to be printed can be printed in the form of mirror images inverted upside down without any change in printing positions.

    • PURPOSE:To enable an entire mirror image printing in the print result, by providing means for switching execution between positive image printing and negative image printing, means for detecting that a print head is at the rightmost end, and means for inverting the print head. CONSTITUTION:A print control section 1 provides an address information to CG17 at a print start position, while it provides a print front information to a parallel/series converting section 5 in order to covert the print font information into a serial signal, and a head drive section 7 drives a print head 6 so as to carry out positive image printing from left to right. When mirror image printing is selected by means of a switch 19, a drive direction inverting circuit 18 inverts drive pulses fed from an SP motor drive section 11 and provides the inverted drive pulses to an SP motor 10, and an extreme end switching section 21 provides information fed from a rightmost end switch 20 to the print control section 1. If a print start information is provided to the print control section 1 through a print information line 13 under this state, the print head 6 moves from right to left untill the switch 20 detects that the print head 6 has reached to the rightmost end. Since the print head 6 has the printing function only in the direction of a row, the entire mirror image in the print result can be obtained upon inversion of moving direction.

    • PURPOSE:To enable accurate printing and cutting operations to be simultaneously performed, by providing a printing head comprising printing needles and cutting needles and a mechanism for retracting an ink ribbon from a position between the printing head and a printing paper, and performing both printing on the paper and cutting of the paper. CONSTITUTION:A cutting operation is performed only in a cutting mode, that is, only when printing code data is a printing code for cutting. At the time of switching from a printing mode to the cutting mode, a controlling part 1 selects cutting needles 29 of a printing head 24 provided with the cutting needles through a needle-selecting circuit 22 and a printing driving circuit 3, and drives an SP motor 5 through an SP motor driving circuit 6 to effect a one-dot-pitch rightward movement where the cutting needles 29 are located at the left of printing needles 30. Then, a lifting motor 25 is driven to turn a ribbon cassette 16 upward together with 8 cassette lifter 27, whereby an ink ribbon is retracted from a position between the head 24 and a printing paper 12. The cutting needles 29 are driven through the printing driving circuit 3.
