    • An image forming method and apparatus, wherein the charging amount that a charging device charges a photosensitive drum is controlled so as to reduce the charging amount in a period, except for the image forming period, than that during the image forming period. While the charging amount is reduced, the voltage applied to the charging device is controlled by chopping. Accordingly, mote adhesion onto the charging device and improper chopping can be effectively prevented or reduced. When print data is input from an outside source, the quantity of airflow generated by the fan is allowed to increase, and the printing operation starts after the quantity of airflow is increased. As sufficient airflow is generated inside the laser printer before the charging device starts to charge, motes and other objects existing in the laser printer can be ejected outside effectively. As a result, mote adhesion onto the charging device and improper charging can be prevented or reduced.

    • An induction system for a multiple cylinder internal combustion engine embodying a simplified fuel injection arrangement that reduces the number of injection nozzles. The engine is provided with a relatively large cross sectional area main induction system and a relatively small cross sectional area auxiliary induction system. A valving arrangement is incorporated so that a major portion of the engine charge requirements are supplied to the chambers through auxiliary induction system at idle and low speed. As a result, turbulence in the combustion chamber at the time of ignition is increased to provide improved fuel economy and exhaust emission control. One fuel injection nozzle is positioned in an inlet passage of the auxiliary induction system which serves a plurality of chambers. In this way, one injection nozzle can serve multiple chambers without adversely affecting mixture distribution. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, pairs of injection nozzles are provided in this common inlet which are fired alternately so that each nozzle serves separate cylinders.

    • An image forming apparatus is provided that includes an image forming unit including an agitation unit for agitating developing agent contained in a container unit, and a sensor which includes a light emitting unit configured to emit light and a light receiving unit configured to receive the light emitted from the light emitting unit and passing through the container unit. The sensor generates an output in accordance with an amount of light received by the light receiving unit while the agitation unit agitates the developing agent. The image forming apparatus also includes has a medium with instructions stored therein that when executed perform steps including calculating a measurement result based on the output generated by the sensor, and determining, after the agitation is started, whether a current period is an unstable period in which the measurement result is unstable or a stable period in which the measurement result is stable.
