    • Apparatus for simulating motion in the form primarily of a seat having arrangements for providing the user with cues which influence the users perception of apparent motion, particularly sustained movements. A fixed seat frame has a moveable seat from which can tilt about orthogonal roll and pitch axes and be displaced linearly in the heave, surge and sway directions: all movements are small and are accompanied preferably by synchronised variations in the apparent hardness of regions of the contact surface so that a user experiences the small relative displacements and apparent tendency to slip in relation to the seat in synchronisation with other cues which result in an interpretation of the experience to simulate the effects of real motions without actually involving movement. This may reinforce the effects of a convention motion simulator, for example for flight training.

    • Some implementations include a method for operating a centrifuge-based-flight simulator in at least one of several different modes: a heightened G-force mode, a normal G-force mode; and transition modes (i.e., ramp-up or ramp-down modes) between the heightened G-force and normal G-force modes. During the normal-G-force mode the simulator ceases planetary motion altogether or substantially decreases rotations to replicate a plurality of flight conditions that physically imparts, on the trainee during operation of the simulator, a G-force that is not greater than approximately one (1) G. The reduction of planetary motion while maintaining realistic motion and force sensations that are appropriate for the virtual-flight conditions being experienced allows realistic flight simulation experience for the trainee and reduces the negative effects of constant planetary motion

    • The invention relates to medical engineering and more particularly to a method for monitoring the functional status of a pilot in flight conditions. According to this method, the pressure of the pilot's hand on the joystick and the intensity thereof, the changes in joystick trajectory, the pressure of pilot's feet on the directional pedals, the position of the pilot's head, the respiratory process, oxygen pressure and the quality of the mixture in the pipe of the oxygen system, the pressure in the anti-g suit, critical and current altitudes as well as the value of the g are recorded. If the recorded parameters deviate from the reference values, an analysis and control unit generates data on the occurrence of a contingency and transmits such data to the pilot. If the pilot eliminates such a contingency, the analysis unit cancels the command output to the voice synthesizer; if the pilot does not react to said data, a signal is generated in order to activate stimulation systems, to put the plane on a level flight and to activate automatic piloting and landing systems. The inventive device contains a sensor unit, an analysis and control unit and an output unit.
