摘要： The objective lens has multiple focal lengths within a focal length interval and a relatively small focal-length ratio in a range from 1.05 to 2.75, and a travel-to-focal-length ratio in a range from 0.5 to 0.4. The objective lens has three main lens groups that define a negative-positive- positive optical system configuration. The first lens group has a rearward lens sub-group that is axially movable for focusing so that the lens length stays the same during focusing. The objective lenses use optical compensation rather than mechanical compensation to move between the design focal lengths each having an in-focus image. This simplifies operation while increasing reliability and reducing cost. A small set of one or more of the objective lenses can be used to replace a large set of prime lenses each having a single focal length, so that fewer lenses are needed to cover the same focal length span.

摘要： Zoom lens systems and methods for imaging incoming rays over a range of ray angles are disclosed. The incoming rays are characterized by at least phase. The zoom lens system includes an optical axis and is characterized by a plurality of modulation transfer functions (MTFs) corresponding at least to the range of ray angles. The zoom lens system includes an optical group disposed along the optical axis, including at least one variable optical element that has a variable focal length selectable between at least two distinct focal length values. The optical group also includes a wavefront coding element. The wavefront coding element alters at least the phase of the incoming rays, such that the plurality of MTFs corresponding to the range of ray angles, for each one of the two distinct focal length values, are less sensitive to misfocus-like aberrations than a corresponding system without the wavefront coding element.

摘要： An ultra-broadband ultraviolet (UV) catadioptric imaging microscope system with wide-range zoom capability is disclosed. The microscope system, which comprises a catadioptric lens group (122) and a zooming tube lens group (139), has high optical resolution in the deep UV wavelengths, continuously adjustable magnification, and a high numerical aperture. The system integrates microscope modules such as objectives (128), tube lenses and zoom optics to reduce the number of components, and to simplify the system manufacturing process. The preferred embodiment offers excellent image quality across a very broad deep ultraviolet spectral range, combined with an all-refractive zooming tube lens. The zooming tube lens is modified to compensate for higher-order chromatic aberrations that would normally limit performance.
