摘要： A nonlethal projectile includes a payload for immobilizing and/or identifying a target. The projectile is capable of separating or otherwise opening after launch by a launcher to release the payload prior to impact with a target. The launcher is capable of initiating separation of the projectile. Opening may also be accomplished by a control circuit with a radio-frequency identification (RFID), where an RFID tag in the projectile causes the projectile to open at a specified distance from the launcher. The launcher may include a trigger and/or a safety switch to prevent the projectile from becoming armed until a certain parameter is met. A magazine or breech assembly of the launcher may energize the projectile prior to launch of the projectile.

摘要： The present invention describes a safe-and-arm fuzing method to operate in a fuze (100) in a munition projectile (105). After being propelled from a gun barrel, the safe-and-arm fuzing method determines that the projectile is in free flight; this determination is done electronically by an algorithm (200, 200a) operating in a microcontroller (130) by detecting decelerations (a x ) are decreasing continuously in the flight direction, as well as decreasing magnitudes in total deceleration in three orthogonal directions (a T ) and decelerating (a yz ) in a plane lateral to the flight direction. Upon final determination, the algorithm (200) employs an analog timer (120) to issue an arm trigger signal (147), whilst algorithm (200a) relies on an internal timer in the microcontroller. After issuing the arm trigger signal, a piston actuator (153) coupled to a slider (154) and associated locking pin (155), and a rotor member (156) provide additional mechanical safety sequence before fuzing.

摘要： A weapon system comprising a cartridge and a fire control apparatus have been developed for generating a projectile with a selectable launch velocity. The cartridge comprises multiple primers and propellant chambers which may be individually selected by the fire controller so as to fire the projectile at a selected launch velocity. Additionally after firing the selected primers and propellant charges, the fire controller sends a second firing signal to all remaining primers after a suitable delay. The second firing signal ensures that all remaining propellant is initiated and consumed, thus rendering the cartridge safe to eject. The delay between the first firing signal and the second firing signal is sufficient to allow the projectile to be expelled from the cartridge so that the launch velocity is not affected by the combustion of the remaining propellant. Selection of primers may be manually performed or a laser range finder may be used to automatically select the primers based on an estimated range to a target. The system may be used for accurately and effectively firing non lethal rounds over short distances.
