    • Method and Drying System of Organic Biodegradable Waste that is characterized by the fact that it is a hybrid drying system (synergistic action of photo degradation and mechanic degradation) which produces stabilized mass of low granulometry for multiple uses.     • In order to provide a method and apparatus for processing solid mixed organic waste to produce a fuel or organic compost, the waste material is treated in a rotary aerobic digester (116), where it is digested in the thermophyllic phase at a temperature in the range 60-75'C, the oxygen content of the gas in contact with the material being treated being maintained at a level above 5% by volume, to produce a treated material having a moisture level not exceeding 45% by weight, more preferably not exceeding 35% by weight and most preferably not exceeding 25% by weight. The treated material can be subsequently dried on a drying floor (123) to provide a stable product. Waste having a high moisture level, such as domestic waste is blended in a blender (115) with waste having a lower moisture level, such as commercial waste, to provide control of the properties of the waste being treated and of the product obtained. The treated solid mixed organic waste from the aerobic digester may also be pyrolysed and, optionally, subsequently gasified.

    • A method and an apparatus for reducing discharges of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide. Carbonaceous materials, wood, pieces of vegetation, products made therefrom, and especially vegetative and municipal wastes poorly suitable for energy production, are treated in such a way that the release of carbon dioxide back to the atmosphere is reduced and restrained substantially. This is accomplished such that an organic mass is carbonized by heating in a charring reactor (2) in an oxygen-free or limited-oxygen volume to charcoal (20), the amount of which is more than 50 % of the carbon content of the dry mass matter, and to a gas mixture (30), from which, after its burning and the recovery of primary energy, at least water vapour is condensed to water and the released heat is exploited on a counterflow principle in a countercurrent heater (1) in the heating and drying of materials to be fed into the process. The resulting charcoal (20) can be exploited in the purification of bodies of water and as soil conditioner.
