摘要： The present invention relates to multi-layered composite structures and to methods for the preparation thereof. The present multi-layered composite structures are light weight and capable of high load bearing making the present multi-layered composite structures especially suitable to be used as load bearing structures in, for example, automotive. Specifically, the present invention relates to methods comprising the steps of a) providing a mould for said multi-layered composite structure; b) layering said mould with two or more layers forming the outer surface of said multi-layered composite; c) filling said layered mould with a mixture comprised of non- expanded heat-expandable microspheres and closing said mould; and d) subjecting said closed mould to a temperature of 80°C to 140°C during 1 to 230 minutes thereby providing a relative pressure in said closed mould of 0.1 to 20 bar through expansion of said heat-expandable microspheres thereby forming a multi-layered composite structure in said mould with a foam enforced inner core and a multi-layered outer surface; and e) separating the multi-layered composite structure from said mould.

摘要： A method of making a composite rotor yoke includes preparing a molded rotor yoke in a closed cavity tool and possibly machining at least one portion of the molded rotor yoke to form the rotor yoke. In the preferred embodiment, preparing the molded rotor yoke is accomplished by applying layers of uncured low-flow composite material and a layer of uncured high-flow adhesive; substantially enclosing the uncured molded rotor yoke in the closed cavity tool; applying pressure so as to compress the uncured molded rotor yoke; and curing the uncured molded rotor yoke. During the curing process, the high-flow adhesive bleeds out of the molded rotor yoke, thereby preventing marcels from forming through movement of the low-flow composite material.

摘要： A method of making a composite panel from two substantially similar panel skins (40, 42) and an edging (48), is disclosed. The first panel skin (40), is made in a mould from a first composition comprising a thermosetting resin, a catalyst for the thermosetting resin and inorganic filler particles. On this layer is placed a layer of a fibrous reinforcing material wetted with a second composition comprising a thermosetting resin and a catalyst for the thermosetting resin. Before the thermosetting resin in the second composition has set, the edging (48) is placed all around the edge of the first panel skin (40). The thermosetting resin in the second composition then sets to form a combination of the first panel skin (40) with the edging (48) attached thereto. The second panel skin (42) is then formed in the same manner as the first panel skin (40) and before the thermosetting resin in the second composition is set, the combination of the first panel skin (40) and the edging (48) is placed on the second panel skin (42) with the edging (48) in contact with the second panel skin (42). The thermosetting resin is then allowed to set to form an intermediate panel from the second panel skin (42) and the combination. The intermediate panel includes a cavity defined by the first and second panel skins (40, 42) separated by the edging (48), and this cavity is filled with a polyurethane foam (50) to form the composite panel.
