摘要： An aluminum alloy includes, in weight percent, 0.50 - 1.30% Si, 0.2 - 0.60% Fe, 0.15% max Cu, 0.5 - 0.90% Mn, 0.6 - 1.0% Mg, and 0.20% max Cr, the balance being aluminum and unavoidable impurities. The alloy may include excess Mg over the amount that can be occupied by Mg-Si precipitates. The alloy may be utilized as a matrix material for a composite that includes a filler material dispersed in the matrix material. One such composite may include boron carbide as a filler material, and the resultant composite may be used for neutron shielding applications.

摘要： A deformable mirror is configured to be deformed by surface-parallel actuation. In one embodiment, the deformable mirror includes a first piezoelectric active layer on a first surface of a substrate. The first piezoelectric active layer has a substantially uniform thickness across the first surface of the substrate. The mirror also includes a first electrode layer on the first piezoelectric active layer. The first electrode layer has a plurality of electrodes arranged in a first pattern and has a substantially uniform thickness across the first piezoelectric active layer. The mirror may further include a second piezoelectric layer on the first electrode layer, and a second electrode layer on the second piezoelectric layer. The electrodes of the first and second electrode layers are configured to supply a voltage to the piezoelectric active layers upon actuation to thereby locally deform the shape of the mirror to correct for optical aberrations.

The bi-material lattice structure further includes a plurality of plates comprising a second material having a second coefficient of expansion different from the first coefficient of expansion. The bi-material lattice structure has a third coefficient of expansion different from both the first coefficient of the expansion and the second coefficient of expansion, and the bi-material lattice structure has a thickness of about 100 run to about 3000 microns.

摘要： A process for producing an iron based specialty alloy intermediate product, which method comprises: (a) forming a melt of desired alloy composition; and (b) casting the melt under solidification conditions to produce an iron based specialty alloy intermediate product that has a microstructure and other properties that renders it suitable for a finishing operation. The solidification conditions are selected and controlled to produce in the intermediate product a relatively fine microstructure and to minimise or avoid macro segregation of alloy components and surface oxidation and cracks. The finishing operations can be typical metal working operations such as cold rolling, hot rolling, annealing. Preferably the melt is cast as a thin section, strip, foil or wire of thickness about 2 mm or less. Generally, the properties of iron based specialty alloys are attributable to the inclusion of relatively high proportions of alloying element levels, e.g. and/or Cr, Ni, Cu, Si, Al and the remainder Fe.

Die Aufgabe wird gelöst durch ein Verfahren zur schmelzmetallurgischen Herstellung von leitfähigen Legierungen bei dern die Strömung im Bereich der Schmelze durch eine elektromagnetisch erzeugte Volumenkraft in Richtung eines strömungslosen Zustandes beeinflusst wird. Die Aufgabe wird weiterhin gelöst durch eine Vorrichtung zur schmelzmetallurgischen Herstellung von leitfähigen Legierungen, bei der Ober oder unter der Primärspule eine Sekundärspule angeordnet ist, wobei beide Spulen einen eigenen Schwingkreis aufweisen, durch die eine Phasenverschiebung regelbar einstellbar ist.
