    • The invention concerns a device for diffusing gas microbubbles in a liquid. Said device can be used for generating microbubbles required for clarification by flotation of a liquid loaded with suspended matter. It can also be used for facilitating dissolution of the gas in the liquid. The method and the device of the invention are particularly designed to replace the air dissolving device (that is, the microbubble generator) in installations for clarification by dissolved air flotation. The device consists of a rotating gas diffuser housed in a body (2) wherein the liquid circulates. The high rotational speed of the diffuser enables to generate considerable friction between the liquid and the surface of the diffuser, thereby drawing from the diffuser very fine bubbles and dispersing them in the liquid.

    • An air charger for generating air bubbles which can float and stable in water for a long period of time to attain water purification, activation or the like. The air charger comprises: a hollow rotating shaft (12) having an opening for introducing air; a capsule (14) mounted on the lower end of the rotating shaft (12); support means (20) for rotatably supporting the capsule (14) so as to locate the rotating shaft (12) in its upper end opening above the water surface and, at the same time, locating the capsule (14) in water; and drive means (13) for rotating the rotating shaft (12). The capsule (14) communicates with the interior of the hollow portion and has a plurality of small holes for spouting air bubbles into water, and the rotating shaft (12) is connected to the drive means (13) through a coupling.

    • An injector (10) for injecting gas into a molten metal. The injector (10) has a rotor (11) that is rotatable about an axis of rotation, the rotor (11) having a cylindrical projection-free side surface (14), a bottom surface (21), and a cavity (18) for receiving molten metal located centrally of the rotor (11) with respect to the axis of rotation. The rotor (11) is provided with a plurality of openings (23) in the side surface (14) spaced around the rotor (11) for ejecting molten metal and gas from the rotor (11) upon rotation of the rotor (11) about the axis of rotation. At least one opening in the bottom surface (21) communicates with the cavity (18) permitting entry of molten metal into the cavity (18), and a plurality of passages (22) disposed in the rotor (11) interconnect the cavity (18) and the openings (23) in the side surface (14). A gas passageway (30) introduces gas into molten metal present within the rotor (11) but lacks direct communication with the cavity (18), and is provided with at least one outlet (35) opening into at least one of the plurality of passages (22) to ensure regular and even gas distribution. The invention also relates to a molten metal degassing apparatus comprising a through-like container for conveying a molten metal from an inlet to an outlet, and at least one gas injector (10) of the above-mentioned kind.

    • The invention relates to an apparatus for the treatment of contaminated media, comprising a rotatable housing having at least one inlet (28) for gas emerging in the stirrer housing, and at least one suction opening (10; 32) for the medium to be treated. The housing is provided with a plurality of outlet openings (25; 27) arranged along its periphery. A plurality of vanes (22; 23) are arranged in the outlet openings (25; 27). A rotation transferring means (24) is provided to transfer a rotational movement to the stirrer. A method according to the invention comprises generating a vortex in the medium in such a way that an under-pressure occurs in the centre of the vortex, and that a nitrogen containing gas is introduced in the centre of the vortex.
