摘要： Systems and methods utilizing RF energy to treat a patient's skin (e.g., dermis and hypodermis) or other target tissue including at a depth below a tissue surface (e.g., skin surface, mucosal surfaces of the vagina or esophagus) are provided herein. In various aspects, the methods and systems described herein can provide a RF-based treatment in which the deposition of RF energy can be selectively controlled to help ensure heating uniformity during one or more of body sculpting treatment (lipolysis), skin tightening treatment (laxity improvement), cellulite treatment, vaginal laxity or rejuvenation treatment, urinary incontinence treatment, fecal incontinence treatment, all by way of non-limiting examples. In various aspects, the systems can comprise one or more sources of RF energy (e.g., a RF generator), a treatment applicator comprising one or more electrode arrays configured to be disposed in contact with a tissue surface, and a return electrode (e.g., a neutral pad) to the tissue surface.

摘要： Provided is an apparatus, system, and method for managing radio frequency (RF) and ultrasonic signals output by a generator that includes a surgical instrument comprising an RF energy output and an ultrasonic energy output and a circuit configured to receive a combined RF and ultrasonic signal from the generator. The circuit may be configured to isolate a direct current (DC) voltage from the combined RF and ultrasonic signal. The DC voltage may then be used to power various electrical components of the surgical instrument while still providing RF energy and ultrasonic energy for surgical application.

摘要： An electrosurgical system includes a generator (10) for generating radio frequency power, and an electrosurgical instrument (12) including at least three electrodes (2) (3) and (40). The generator includes a radio frequency output stage having at least a pair of RF output lines (60C), and a power supply (66) coupled to the output stage for supplying power to the output stage. A controller (72) is operable to limit the radio frequency output voltage developed across the output lines to at least a first predetermined threshold value to produce a cutting RF waveform, and a second threshold value to produce a coagulating RF waveform. In a combined mode, the controller (72) delivers both cutting and coagulating waveforms, either simultaneously or by alternating constantly between the first and second threshold values to form a blended signal. The system also includes means for feeding the waveform to the three or more electrodes such that the cutting RF waveform is delivered between a first pair (2, 3) of the electrodes, and the coagulating waveform is delivered between a second pair (3, 40) of the electrodes.

摘要： Electrosurgical methods, systems, and apparatus for the controlled ablation of tissue from a target site of a patient. An electrosurgical instrument includes a working portion having a plurality of working zones differentiated according to their relative rates of aspiration and ablation. The instrument (1400) further includes an aspiration channel in communication with a plurality of aspiration ports (1440), and a plurality of active electrodes disposed on the working portion. Each of the plurality of working zones may have at least one of the plurality of active electrodes and at least one of the plurality of aspiration ports. The aspiration rate of each working zone is dependent, inter alia , on the number, size, and distribution of the aspiration ports on that zone. In one embodiment, the ablation rate of a working zone is inversely related to the aspiration rate of that zone. Each of the plurality of active electrodes is adapted for ablating tissue to form low molecular weight ablation by-products. The ablation by-products may be aspirated from the target site via aspiration port(s) on one or more of the plurality of working zones.

摘要： An apparatus for delivering energy to a biological site includes an electrode device having a plurality of electrodes, the electrode device positioned proximal the biological site. A power control system supplies power having a controllable phase angle to each of the electrodes. A backplate is also positioned proximal the biological site so that the biological site is interposed between the electrode device and the backplate. The backplate is maintained at the reference voltage level in relation to the power. The power control system controls the phase angle of the power so that the current flow between the electrodes and between the electrodes and the backplate results in the continuity and depth of lesions desired. In a preferred embodiment, the electrodes are arranged in a substantially linear array.
