摘要： Methods and devices retract tissue for minimally invasive surgery in a patient. A retractor (20, 320) includes a working channel (50, 350) formed by a first portion (22, 322, 322') and a second portion (42, 342, 342'). The first and second portions (22, 322, 322', 42, 342, 342') are movable relative to one another from a first configuration for insertion that minimizes trauma to skin and tissue to an enlarged configuration after insertion to further retract skin and tissue in a minimally invasive manner. An optional intermediate retractor assembly (450, 470, 550) is positionable between the first and second retractor portions (22, 322, 322', 42, 342, 342') to provide further tissue retraction capabilities.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for correcting spinal abnormalities, and particularly for providing compression and/or distraction of vertebrae without additional tools or instrumentation. A, plate member (20) is provided with a plurality of slots (30,32), one of which has a sloped internal edge or surface (50). The plate is anchored to one vertebra by a first anchor (22), and a second anchor (24) is then placed through the slot with the sloped internal edge or surface and tightened. Such tightening causes the plate to move with respect to the tightened anchor, and thus to transmit compression or distraction to the vertebrae. The apparatus is particularly useful in minimally-invasive surgeries but can also be used in more traditional open surgeries.

摘要： Systems and methods are provided that include a plate member (120, 140, 160, 180) engageable to the spinal column with an anchor assembly (20, 320, 420). The anchor assembly (20, 320, 420) includes a coupling member (30, 130, 330, 430) having a post (32, 332, 432) extending through at least one opening of the plate member (120, 140, 160, 180) and an anchor member (70) pivotally captured in a receiver portion (34, 334, 434) of the coupling member (30, 130, 330, 430) below a lower surface of the plate member (120, 140, 160, 180). A locking member (90) secures the plate member (120, 140, 160, 180) to the coupling member (30, 130, 330, 430).
