摘要： A method for detecting a drill string washout event. The method includes locating a drill string in a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation. A drilling fluid is pumped into the drill string. The drill string includes a turbine that spins in response to the drilling fluid flowing therethrough. A comparison is made between a rate that the drilling fluid is pumped into the drill string and a spin rate of the turbine. A defect is determined to be formed in the drill string based upon the comparison.

The computer (24) includes a software tool for real-time design of a model (38) for heterogeneous proppant placement in the fracture (12) based on data from the sensor (20) measurements and a software tool for developing and updating a proppant placement schedule (42) for delivering the proppant and treatment fluid to the fracture (12) corresponding to the model. A control link between the computer (24) and the delivery system (10) permits the delivery system (10) to adjust the delivery of the proppant and treatment fluid according the updated proppant placement schedule.

摘要： An elastomeric-based device configured for use in high temperature downhole environments exceeding about 400F. The device includes a carbon nanotube mesh configured to dissipate heat relative elastomeric portions thereof so as to provide temperature resistance. Thus, a majority of modulus strength of the elastomeric portions may be maintained along with device functionality even upon exposure to such temperatures. Further, the mesh may also be configured to mimic the modulus character of elastomeric portions to allow a cohesive compliance to the device as a whole. Thus, isolation packers and other expansive downhole devices may particularly benefit from such combined material configurations as detailed herein.

摘要： Monitoring of a wellbore which penetrates a reservoir is carried out by providing tracer material at one or more subterranean locations within or proximate the wellbore, so that tracer may enter the flow and be present in flow from the wellbore; repeatedly taking samples from the flow from the wellbore, and analyzing the samples for the presence of tracer, in the vicinity of the wellsite. Taking samples from the flow will generally be done at the surface and may be done by automatic equipment controlled by a programmed computer. The computer may be programmed to take action, such as operating a valve within the well, in response to detection of tracer. Sampling repeatedly and analyzing on site can provide information in something close to real time and thus integrates the use of tracers into an overall process of monitoring and control.
