    • An apparatus is described (1) for measuring the blood flow (Vb) between the trunk and the extremities. Such an apparatus (1) comprises a whole body plethysmograph (102; 4, 12, 15, 40) for measuring the variations of gas volume in the lungs (ΔVL), a thoraco-abdominal plethysmograph (101, 2, 3) for measuring the volume variations of the trunk (ΔVCW) and a system for processing (20) allowing measurement of the said variations of gas volume of the lungs (ΔVL) and the volume variations of the trunk (ΔVCW) so as to compute the volume of blood shifted between the trunk and the extremities (Vb). Further a process is described for measuring the volume of blood shifted between the trunk and the extremities (Vb). Such a process comprises: a measurement (121) of the volume variations of the trunk (ΔVCW) by means of thoraco-abdominal plethysmography, a measurement (104) (performed at the same time as the previous measurement) of the variations of gas volume of the lungs (ΔVL) by means of whole body plethysmography; a processing (120) of said volume variations of the trunk (ΔVCW) and of said volume variations of the lungs in order to measure the volume of blood shifted between the trunk and the extremities (Vb).

    • The invention concerns an apparatus for fusion and navigation of ecographic and volumetric images of a patient (1) and for localization of an ecographic probe (2) connected with an ecographer (7) and/or of a surgical instrument (3) operating on the same patient. The unit comprises a plurality of passive or active optical markers (4) positionable on the body of the patient and a plurality of active optical markers (5, 6) located on the ecographic probe and/or on the surgical instrument, sensors of optical signal (8) provided with devices (9) for activation of said passive markers, which sensors (8) are suitable for reception of optical signals produced by reflect ion of said passive markers and/or coming from said active markers, a turning on device (11) for said active markers and said devices for the activation of the passive markers, a movement analysis device (10) suitable to process the signals emitted by said sensors (8) as a function of the optical signals received in order to obtain from them the coordinates of said markers, a decoding device (12) suitable to distinguish the coordinates of the active markers from the ones of the passive markers, a data processing device (13) for localization of the ecographic probe (2) and/or the surgical instrument (3) and for definition of the movement of the patient, a device (14) for acquisition of the ecographic images in synchronism with the posit ion of the ecographic probe (2) and/or the surgical instrument (3) and a device (15) for fusion and the navigation of the ecographic images with volumetric images coming from other systems (16) for acquisition of images.

    • The present invention refers to a system and a method for the automatic detection of the expiratory flow limitation of a subject. In an embodiment thereof the system for the automatic detection of expiratory flow limitation of a subject comprises: means for determining the respiratory impedance of said subject composed of an imaginary component and, eventually, of a real part or, at least, means to apply a forcing signal with one or more spectral components to the airway opening of a subject combined with means to measure time courses of pressure and flow at the airway opening; means for determining at least one index linked to said respiratory impedance or pressure and flow time courses; means for indicating the positioning of said at least one index in relation to a preset threshold value.
