摘要： Disclosed is an infusion device (10) and a method of use thereof comprising the steps of, and means for, introducing an elongated infusion device (10) having an elongated body, an internal lumen, and a distal infusion segment (22) through a patient's vascular system to the site of an obstruction (14), the infusion device (10) having an infusion port in the distal infusion segment (22) leading to the infusion lumen for infusing a dissolving agent in proximity with the obstruction (14), applying force axially along the body of the infusion device (10) against the resitance of the obstruction (14), thereby storing potential energy in the infusion device (10), delivering the dissolving agent through the infusion device lumen and out of the infusion port and into the obstruction (14), and longitudinaly extending the infusion device (1) distally under the force of the potential energy as the resistance of the obstruction (14) diminishes as it is dissolved.

摘要： A liquid embolic delivery system is provided for trapping an injected liquid embolic composition to prevent the liquid embolic from solidifying or otherwise passing outside of an embolization area. The delivery system includes a catheter for delivery of a liquid embolic composition and a containment member positioned at a distal end of the catheter which is shaped to trap the liquid embolic composition delivered through the lumen of the catheter. The containment member is formed as a brush, nest, sponge, swab, flexible sack, or other shape into and around which the liquid embolic composition is injected. The liquid embolic composition is trapped or meshes with the containment member during solidification containing the liquid embolic and preventing the embolic composition from passing into the blood stream.

A plurality of infusion side holes (54) are formed in a distal infusion segment of the outer sheath in fluid communication with the infusion lumen. At the junction (36) of the proximal inner sheath (24) and the distal wire coil, a radiopaque wire coil (40) of a material having a higher radiopacity than the distal wire coil is wound into spacings between adjacent turns of the proximal wire coil.

摘要： A miniaturized brush (10) and method of making same having a hollow lumen for receiving a guide wire (22) and for introducing an agent for dissolving a soft fibrinous obstruction such as a recently formed thrombus, within a patient's vascular system. The brush (10) has soft, flexible bristles extending outward from the drive shaft (14) distal section, the bristles (28) being sufficiently resilient and dimensioned for enabling compression and passage of the brush (10) out of and back into the distal end of an introducer lumen and to mix into the fibrin of the soft thrombus, yet not damage the vessel wall. The brush (10) is formed of brush bristles entrapped between coiled wire (60) turns of a metal having enhanced radiographic imaging characteristics wound about the drive shaft (14) distal section.
