A method for preventing excessive power drainage and indicating the remaining discharge time of the power source of an implantable medical device for delivering a therapeutic output to a patient, which would result in damage to the power source and/or medical device and/or injury to the patient is also disclosed.

    • In modem optical disc systems, inter-track spacing is chosen relatively small in order to allow high storage densities. As a result, the optical spot has a radius comparable with the track pitch, and the data written on neighboring tracks appear in the target track signal in the form of inter-track interference (cross-talk). An exemplary lead includes at least a partially curved portion for conforming with a geometry defined by the target tissue region. In an exemplary embodiment, the system relates to stimulating targets in the brain for improved post-operative steering of an applied electric field. The leads can be either pre- curved or put under transversal mechanical strain during insertion such that a certain curved curvature of the insertion trajectory is achieved. The system includes at least a first insertion tool removably engaged with respect to the lead for guiding and providing mechanical support to the lead during insertion.

The substate indication is an indication of which of the complementary set of states the combined state represents for the data symbol. The apparatus comprises: a bit recovery unit (308), operating upon a set of control parameters, capable of retrieving a number of channel bits, on condition that the control parameters have values in respective valid ranges, and an adaptive parameters adjustment unit (309), for adjusting the set of control parameters, based upon the sequence of said channel bits, so as to bring the control parameter in the respective valid ranges. Thus, the link area comprises a link pattern for facilitating the adaptive parameters adjustment unit in adjusting the set of control parameters. Moreover, the Link pattern comprises a sequence of markers defined by a polarity transition, which encode auxiliary information bits, and that said adaptive parameters adjustment unit is configured to use the auxiliary information for adjusting said set of control parameters.
