    • There is provided a substance shutoff device for shutting down communication of at least one of an inflammable substance and an oxidizer when the inflammable substance and the oxidizer are brought into contact with each other to thereby prevent continuation of the contact between the inflammable substance and the oxidizer, the substance shutoff device comprising a catalyst portion 101 provided in contact with one of an inflammable substance flow path and an oxidizer flow path; and a shutoff means 111 which operates by heating through a reaction between the inflammable substance and the oxidizer in the catalyst portion to shut down communication of at least one of the inflammable substance and the oxidizer. A fuel cell using the inflammable substance shutoff device is also provided. Thereby, it is possible to detect and shut down leak of the inflammable substance with a simple construction, without requiring a drive source such as electricity.

The mechanism includes a vaporizing portion, a condensing portion, and a loop-shaped flow path connecting the vaporizing and the condensing portions so as to seal working fluid, the mechanism serving to perform heat transport by actions of vaporization of the fluid in the vaporizing portion and condensation of the fluid in the condensing portion to control heat transfer, the mechanism further comprising a gas passage suppressing portion on one side in the flow path, for allowing liquid to pass therethrough and suppressing gas passage and a liquid passage suppressing portion on the other side in the flow path, for allowing gas to pass therethrough and suppressing liquid passage.
