摘要： A medical delivery system (10) is provided for delivering a medicament (17) or fluid (17) to a patient. The system comprises a disposable element such as a line set (14) associated with a container (16) containing the fluid (17), an identifier (18) associated with the line set (14) and having identification information associated therewith, and a delivery device (12) configured to engage the line set (14) and deliver the fluid (17) to the patient. The delivery device (12) includes a recognition system (20) that is capable of obtaining the identification information associated with the identifier (18). The identification information may include information regarding the identification of the fluid (17), a type of line set (14), or a type of administration associated with the line set (14). The device (12) can be capable of configuration based on the identification information.

摘要： A medical infusion system including a lineset used for delivering fluid, such as a liquid medicinal substance, to a patient from a source such as an IV bag (18) through operation of an electric component (30) is disclosed. The preferred infusion system (10) includes disposable tubing (12) having first and second ends (16,17) attachable to at least a first and second medical component, and a power supply (14), such as a fuel cell, battery, battery pack, power paper, or a combination of the same, attached to the tubing (12) wherein the power supply (14) is configured to be activated to provide electric power to the electric component (30). Such configuration may include the use of an activating member, such as a fluid pump. The preferred power supply (14) is a fuel cell (32) having a reactant source and a barrier (54) separating the reactant source from a reaction chamber (46). The barrier (54) is preferably selected from the group consisting of a frangible membrane, a tear seal, and any combination of the two. Additionally, the fuel cell (or the power supply, generally) may be integral to the tubing (12) of the lineset or may be configured to fit within the fluid pump (30). This allows the activating member to be made integral to the fluid pump (30) such that the insertion of the fuel cell (32) into the pump (30) will defeat the barrier (54) and activate the fuel cell (32) to create power.

摘要： A fluid delivery system having a closed-loop control process for delivering a medical fluid to a patient (120,220). A fluid infusion system includes a pump (100,208) for delivering a fluid to a patient via an administration tube (122,206). A flow sensor (126,212) associated with the administration tube provides an indication of the actual flow rate (224) of fluid in the administration tube. Such a flow sensor may comprise a positive displacement flow sensor (402) constructed using micro-fabrication and/or micro-molding techniques. A reader (230) reads the actual flow rate signal and provides an indication (234) to a controller (232) for controlling the pump. The flow rate information can also be used for providing status information, such as the existence of a blockage (250) in the fluid delivery system.

Generally, the medical device 10 has a controller 12, a memory 14, a processor 16 and an input device 18. The memory 14 is preloaded with at least one of a plurality of patient profiles and condition profiles. The memory 14 is further preloaded with an associated medication therapy for a plurality of the profiles. The input device 18 receives profile data 90, 91 comprising at least one of a patient profile data and a condition profile data for a specific patient, and the processor 16 processes the received profile data 100 and provides as output one of the preloaded medication therapies based on the processed profile data 102.

Such a structure preferably exhibits geometric properties that tend to promote vascularization in the area of the struture when implanted into a host. The method includes selectively applying and exposing layers of biocompatible photoimageable meterial (62) to create layers (52, 54, 56, 58) forming a cross-linked latticework structure (90) having the desired geometric properties. Each layer is formed on top of a prior layer, preferably before any layer is developed. In one form, the structure (90) is manufactured in connection with an implant device (94) and promotes vascularization that supports bioacceptance/biocompatibility of the implant device (94).
