    • A clutch assist system for a vehicle having a mechanical clutch system comprising a clutch pedal, a clutch arm, and a cable extending between the clutch pedal and the clutch arm. The system includes a pedal sensor that transmits a signal indicative of the position of, or pressure applied to, the clutch pedal, a clutch assist actuator connected to the clutch arm to exert a force on the clutch arm and at least one valve connected to the clutch assist actuator. The controller controls the valve based on the output of the pedal sensor to regulate fluid flow to and from the clutch assist ratio. A method for reducing the mechanical force required to operate a clutch mechanism having a clutch pedal includes the steps of sensing a position of, or pressure applied to, the clutch pedal and regulating air flow to the clutch assist actuator based on the sensed position of, or pressure applied to, the clutch pedal.
