    • The present invention is directed to a radiolucent aiming guide for locating and drilling through the holes in the distal end of an implanted intramedullary nail. The aiming guide comprises an elongate handle (1) constructed substantially of a radiolucent material, which does not cast a strong image on a monitor when exposed to radiation. The radiolucent handle (1) is used in conjunction with a protection sleeve (20), trocar (30), drill sleeve (40), an drill bit (50), which are used to locate and drill through the hole in the nail. Radiopaque components in the distal end of the protection sleeve (20), trocar (30), and drill bit (50 are used to align the drill over the nail hole. A pair of radiopaque pins (7; 13), located within the handle (1) and lying parallel to its longitudinal axis, aid in ensuring the proper rotational alignment of the aiming guide over the nail hole. The aiming guide may also include a structure to facilitate its alignment over a second hole in the distal end of the intramedullary nail.

    • Systems, methods and device for tibial resection comprise a first cutting guide and a second cutting guide. The first cutting guide (12) is configured to overlay a portion of the tibia and to direct a cutting instrument in a plane. The first cutting guide has a length extending from a generally medial portion of the tibia to a generally lateral portion of the tibia. The first cutting guide has a depth extending in a posterior direction generally perpendicular to the length and a groove extending along the length and depth of the first cutting guide such that the groove extends along a generally transverse plane. The second cutting guide (34) is oriented at an angle to the first cutting guide and configured to extend generally in a posterior direction from the first cutting guide (12). The second cutting guide limits the cutting instrument in the transverse plane from cutting bone.
