    • A ranging process is disclosed for point-to-multipoint communication systems having a central station (OLT) and several terminals (ONU) connected to the central station (OLT) by a network, in particular a passive optical network.     • A system is disclosed for point-to-multipoint data communications between a central station and a plurality of terminals connected to each other and to the central station by a network, in particular a passive optical network.
