摘要： A set of surgical instruments for use in the implantation of a tissue repair kit (9, 11) after preparation of a bone site (1, 3, 5) having damaged tissue, in which damaged tissue is first removed and an annular groove (7) is formed around the defect site prior to application of the repair kit comprising a bio-compatible pad (9) to fit on the prepared bone site, and an overlying cover sheet (11) to fit in the groove, and the set of surgical instruments comprising: an introducer cylinder (44) having a hollow driving head (44a) at one end for introducing an outer portion (11a) of the cover sheet into the groove (7); a plunger (43) relatively slidable within the cylinder (44) and having a delivery end (43a) engageable with the cover sheet so as to move a main portion (11b) of the cover sheet towards the bone site with the outer portion (11a) of the cover sheet trailing behind the main portion; and a pad-receiving recess defined between the delivery end (43a) of the plunger (43) and the inner wall of the cylinder (44) so that a pad (9) can be introduced into the recess to overlie the main portion (11b) of the cover sheet (11); and a bone site preparation device (30) for removing damaged tissue from the bone site (1, 3) and for forming the annular groove (7) around the site prior to use of the introducer cylinder (44) and plunger (43).

摘要： This invention relates to implantable cord anchorage devices for animals and humans and methods of manufacturing the same, optionally by using rapid manufacturing technology. One implantable surgical cord anchor (10) is disclosed which comprises: a main body (12) to be pressed or screwed into biological tissue; an internal cavity (14) extending internally along a region of the main body; an inner component (16) movable both axially and rotationally within the cavity of the main body such that the inner component may be inserted and withdrawn from the inner cavity via axial movement and rotated when inserted within the inner cavity; and cooperating locking components (18, 20) provided at an internal facing surface (22) of the inner cavity of the main body and an external facing surface (24) of the inner component such that the inner component is capable of being locked in position axially within the main body via engagement of the locking components.

摘要： A repair kit (10) for use in the repair of damaged cartilage present at or on the surface of a bone site (20) in an animal or human, in which the damaged cartilage is removed from the site and a groove (25) is formed about the site and into the bone (20) prior to implantation of the repair kit (10), and said repair kit comprising: a pad (11) of bio-compatible material shaped and dimensioned to occupy at least part of the site from which the damaged tissue has been removed; elongate connecting portions (14) attached to the periphery of the pad (11) in an array corresponding in shape to the groove (25), said portions being intended to extend away from the general plane of the pad so as to be introduced into the groove and to be anchored therein; and a retaining element (26) slidable depthwise of the groove (25) in order to anchor at least some of the connecting portions (14) in the groove (25) and thereby locate and retain the pad (11) in said part of the bone site. There is also disclosed a method of preparation of the bone site prior to implantation, and also an implant delivery device (46), on which the repair kit can be temporarily stored, and which also serves to deliver the pad, the elongate connecting portions (14) and the retaining element (47) on to the prepared site.
