    • This is a device for intermixing a first component, such as a parenteral fluid (27) with a second component, such as an immobilized drug carried by a scaffold (50) to form a beneficial agent which, following the mixture step, can be dispensed directly from the device for infusion into a patient. The device includes novel mechanisms for mateably interconnecting a container, such as a glass vial (30), containing the first component with a housing (12) having a fluid outlet (22) which houses a sealed container (44) containing the second component, and then for controllably mixing the components under sterile conditions to form an ingestable solution which is automatically dispensed through the fluid outlet of the device.

    • A compact fluid dispenser for use in controllably dispensing fluid me­dicaments, such as antibiotics, oncolytics, hormones, steroids, blood clotting agents, analgesics, and like medicinal agents from prefilled containers at a uniform rate. The dispenser uniquely includes a stored energy source that is provided in the form of a substantially constant-force, compressible-expandable wave spring that provides the force necessary to continuously and uniformly expel fluid from the device reservoir. The device further includes a fluid flow control assembly that precisely controls the flow of medicament solution to the patient. Additionally, the device includes a novel modulating assembly for controllably modulating the force exerted by the wave spring tending to expel the fluid from the device reservoir.
