    • Disclosed are a method for providing a content management list which enables integrated management for the use of various contents and an apparatus for performing the same. The method for providing the content management list in a content management list provision apparatus which can be connected to a plurality of contents through a network includes the steps of: displaying the content management list including electronic program guide information of a broadcasting program; and displaying information of reserved playback contents corresponding to the reservation time of a time axis which is additionally displayed in the content management list according to an event signal for indicating a content playback reservation. Accordingly, the method enables a user to easily determine the reserved states of all available contents, and enables the user to efficiently make plans to use the various contents therethrough.

In a multimedia transmission layer operating method in which optimization of a first layer and a second layer is implemented by using service data provided from the first layer which contains a transmission layer and a network layer, and the second layer which is below a decoding layer, the operating method comprises: an upward abstraction step in which the service data provided to the second layer is processed and provided as a multimedia transmission layer; and a downward abstraction step in which instruction data provided from the multimedia transmission layer is processed and provided as the second layer. Consequently, there is the advantage that all layers share diverse data about the many dynamic changes in the wireless environment, and the data can be controlled to allow transmission in which service quality is ensured more effectively.

    • According to the present invention, a motion vector for an input coding unit is generated, motion compensation is performed on the basis of the generated motion vector to generate a prediction signal, a weight parameter is generated on a prediction unit basis, the weight parameter is applied to the prediction signal to generate a prediction macro block, and a residue value is generated on the basis of the received coding unit and the prediction block. The same motion parameter is allocated to the merged blocks, and the blocks are transmitted to a decoder. An image encoding/decoding method selects interpolating filters to be used in an inter-frame prediction based on motion compensation, for units more precise than a picture unit, wherein said more precise units include at least one of a slice unit and a partition unit, and calculates sub-pixel values. According to the present invention, quality of encoded image can be improved, and efficiency of encoding high resolution images having resolution higher than a high definition (HD) class can be improved.

Thus, during HTTP streaming, initial transmission delay is reduced, and random access and trick mode playback are possible.
