A cost estimate is determined for bi-directional motion prediction on the basis of the modified first motion vector predictor candidate and the modified second motion vector predictor candidate. The addition, subtraction and cost estimate determination may be repeated to obtain a set of modified first motion vector predictor candidates, a set of modified second motion vector predictor candidates and a set of cost estimates. A first motion vector predictor is selected from the set of modified first motion vector predictor candidates and a second motion vector predictor is selected from the set of modified second motion vector predictor candidates on the basis of the set of cost estimates.

    • Methods, media, a system and an apparatus for video coding are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: receiving pixel data of multiple images of the same scene and captured from multiple different camera positions at different angles relative to the scene; determining source motion vectors of images of at least two camera positions of the multiple camera positions by using a prediction loop of a coder; and projecting the source motion vectors to form a projection motion vector on at least one image of the multiple camera positions to be used to encode the at least one image, wherein using the source motion vectors to form the projection motion vector reduces the computations and in turn delay attributed to generation of motion vectors.
