    • The invention provides a sail for a wind powered craft and comprises a sail having a luff and being formed from overlapping first and second sail panels (5) joined at or adjacent their leech edges and together forming a sail leech (7). A plurality of battens (2) are located between the first and second sail panels and extend at least partially between the sail leech and the sail luff. Means (105, 108) are provided to apply a load on the battens to force at least some of them to adopt or increase a curved profile and thereby impart a correspondingly curved profile to either the first or the second sail panel. The battens can be moved from one sail panel to bear upon the other sail panel to enable the sail to be tacked. The inversion also provides a sail arrangement with such a sail and a mast, as also a vehicle including such a sail or sail arrangement.

    • An irrigation water and measuring delivery system comprising a series of units each comprising two slide action spindle valves that may be in common body shell with inter-connecting ducts to form a metering valve (4) and a switch control valve (10) station serving an inverted dome reservoir. Supply water pressure supplies the energy for valve operation. The valves sense the internal fluid pressure and operate through a cycle of accepting a water charge in the reservoir, and a dump release of this charge and a signal initiating sequential operation of the next delivery unit. The size and the water charge of the individual reservoirs are selectable.

    • When a skater's weight is applied to the skate, the blade (4) is able to flex into a flatter condition so that the ice-bearing surface (5), in the form of steel strip, will be substantially in contact with the ice along the whole length. When the skater is negotiating a bend, the skate will be tilted onto one edge and the sideways force applied will cause a degree of flexibility of the blade (4) into a curved sideways condition and at the same time the struts (2 and 3) will be distorted slightly to allow for the flexing of the blade (4). The lattening out of the bow-shape to the blade (4) will be modified to some extent but the combination of this, together with the sideways curving of the blade (4), will still result in the ice-bearing surface (5) being in contact with the ice substantially along the whole of its length.
