    • A point-to-point transit system for individual vehicles includes a guideway (12) with a transit lane and a transition lane. Disposed along the guideway (12) are selectively actuable portals (24), configured to allow substantially transverse ingress and egress of vehicles into the transition lane. The vehicles (28) are configured for automatic control within the guideway and during ingress and egress, and may also be configured for independent control by a driver outside the guideway. In the transition lane the vehicles accelerate to a transit speed and merge into the adjacent transit lane. Upon approaching a selected destination portal, an individual vehicle merges back into the transition lane to decelerate for exit. The guidance system allows the vehicles (28) to combine into controllably linked "trains" in the transit lane. The guideway may also include a plurality of selectively actuable rider access portals configured to allow ingress and egress of riders to autonomous vehicles in the guideway.

    • A unique transit system incorporates at least one internally powered, wheeled, transport vehicle (15) having both manual controls enabling a user to drive the vehicle on a surface street and an on-board computer, OBC, (73) system enabling software control of at least vehicle steering and velocity. A controlled roadway system having a roadway surface upon which the transport vehicle (15) runs on its internal power (87) on the same wheels (75) as on surface streets is provided as well. On surface streets off the controlled roadway the manual controls are active, and on the controlled roadway the software controls are active. Manual or computer control depends on whether the vehicle (15) is on the controlled roadway or surface streets. The OBC (73) communicates with a Master computer for the controlled roadway, providing a range of functions. The transport vehicles (15) operate at a fixed and constant speed on the controlled roadway system.

    • The invention relates to a system for the long-distance transportation of goods comprising a transport lane and a multitude of transport vehicles (10). The transport vehicles are designed as self-driving transport units for being driven in a driverless manner on a transport lane. Since the transport vehicles (10) of the inventive system for the long-distance transportation of goods which are designed as self-driving transport vehicles are not required to have a high minimal weight in contrast to, e.g. railway cars, they can be manufactured with a comparatively light-weight construction. By virtue of the driverless operation, a traffic flow is guaranteed which is largely free of acceleration and deceleration. The inventive system for the long-distance transportation of goods enables, in total, an energy efficient and economical long-distance transportation of goods by land.

    • The invention relates to a multifunctional, automobile, integrable transport cabin shuttle (MAICS). Said MAICS is an automobile cabin with small wheels, travelling at a maximum speed of 50 km/h and corresponding to the inner space of a train compartment. Said MAICS comprises a drive, steering, braking and supply system and can be attached to another MAICS or can be temporarily installed in or on other carrier systems (e.g. a car, bus, train, boat, airplane, hotel). A preferred embodiment of the MAICS essentially consists of at least two parts, namely the drive unit and a detachable transport and passenger cabin that can be detached from said drive unit. The drive unit is left behind in a train station or an airport, etc. in case of long distances and the cabin is fixed on the train, airplane, boat, etc. In the place of destination, the cabin is once again attached to a drive unit available there. Passengers are actually unaware of said changeover since they do not have to step out of the cabin.
