    • An electrical power system comprises at least one synchronous generator (101), a signal transducer (102) for producing an amplitude signal indicative of the amplitude of generator voltage, and a controller (103). The signal transducer and the controller are parts of a voltage control loop for controlling the excitation of the synchronous generator on the basis of the amplitude signal and the reference amplitude. The voltage control loop comprises a band-rejection filter (104) or another signal conditioning device for suppressing frequency components corresponding to torsional mode oscillations of a rotating system that comprises the rotor of the synchronous generator and a rotating part of an engine or another prime mover. Thus, an adverse phenomenon where the voltage control loop maintains or even amplifies the torsional mode oscillations can be avoided.

    • The aim of the invention is to use a separate device (11) between the analog (8) and digital (6) communications lines to convert the digital load sharing information from the digital communication line (6) to the analog communication line (8) and vice versa. The device (11) does not generate power itself for the load sharing and therefore does not disturb the load sharing of the generators (5,7) on the both sides of the device (11). The device (11) can be seen as a gate between the digital communication line (6)and the analog communication line (8). The device(ll) simulates load situation of the generator/s (5) connected to the digital communication line (6) for load sharing with other generator/s (7) connected to the analog communication line (8), and similarly it simulates load situation of the other generator/s (7) connected to the analog communication line (8) for load sharing with the generator/s (5) connected to the digital communication line (6).
