摘要： The disclosure includes a glow-discharge lamp including: an elongate casing transparent to illuminating radiation and containing a plasma gas; a device for applying an electric field for maintaining a plasma in the so-called positive column region of the casing, the device including two electrodes forming an anode and a cathode located in the casing at each end thereof; and a radio-frequency or microwave cathode plasma source arranged in the casing in relation to the cathode-forming electrode, such as to generate a high-frequency discharge located on the surface of the electrode in order to generate the plasma. The disclosure also includes a lighting method of such a glow-discharge lamp.

摘要： The present invention has an object to provide a cold-cathode discharge lamp which can suppress sputtering on a lead-in wire and reduce consumption of mercury so as to achieve a longer lifetime without increasing an amount of applied mercury. The cold-cathode discharge lamp of the present invention is characterized in that a lead-in wire connected to a cylindrical electrode in a lighting tube is made of a material same as a material that forms the cylindrical electrode. It is possible to suppress concentration negative glow discharge shifted to the lead-in wire and to allow the electrode to be covered with even negative glow discharge. Thus, it is possible to reduce mercury consumed by excessive sputtering on the outer surface of the internal lead-in wire and to achieve a longer lifetime of the cold-cathode discharge lamp.

摘要： A gas-discharge lamp for producing modulated atomic resonance radiation comprising a hermetically sealed cylindrical envelope having a window at one end, two electrodes between which a positive column discharge in a rare gas is maintained during operation by means of a direct-voltage difference, a sputtering electrode essentially consisting of an element having desired resonance radiation characteristics, and a ring to confine the resonance radiation along the axis of the positive column discharge which is located in such a manner that it intersects the window. The sputtering electrode and the ring surround the positive column with the ring positioned between the sputtering electrode and the electrode at the window end. The ring, extending up to the vicinity of the sputtering electrode, has an inner diameter which is smaller than that of the sputtering electrode and a length which is at least equal to the inner diameter. Furthermore, a generator is provided from which a voltage of periodically varying values is applied to the sputtering electrode. The lamp may comprise a plurality of sputtering electrodes and may be used in apparatus for measuring absorption of atomic resonance radiation, particularly for determining traces of elements in a sample.
