    • A disc cartridge loading apparatus of simple construction is disclosed which smoothly and securely loads and unloads a disc cartridge. The disc cartridge loading apparatus includes a main slider supported so as to be freely slidable on a chassis. A cartridge holder is supported between the side portions of the main slider so as to slide in upward and downward directions. In addition, a loading slider is provided which slides to and from the cartridge holder. The loading slider includes a hook portion which engages an engaging portion, provided in the side of a disc cartridge, when the cartridge is inserted into the cartridge holder. The loading apparatus is supported in a sub-chassis via damping members in a manner which prevents transmission of vibration from the sub-chassis to the loading apparatus. Further, during loading and unloading operation, engaging members are active to fix the positioning of the loading apparatus as a whole relative to the sub-chassis in the vertical, lateral and longitudinal directions so as to allow smooth and reliable loading and unloading of the disc cartridge.

    • A disc clamping device of a compatible disc player, by which a mini disc or a compact disc can be selectively loaded on a single turntable clamps either the mini disc or the compact disc. The disc clamming device has a base plate including two side walls each having a reversed "L" shaped cut-out portion, a supporter extending upward, a clamper arm and a rotating body pivoting about a hinged shaft fastened to the supporter, an actuating rod projected through the lower end of the rotating body, a folded forward portion having a clamper mounted thereto; a moving plate having a arcuate portion defined in the lower corner of the rear end thereof, a rack gear, and a stepped cut portion formed in side thereof; a tray holder receiving a compact disc tray and a mini disc tray; and a loading device. Since the disc clamping device is simple in construction, stable operation is ensured and manufacturing cost is reduced. Clamping force of the clamper can be conveniently controlled by adjustment of the angle between the clamper arm and the rotating body.

    • A loading apparatus for a recording medium such as a disc-like recording medium includes a transfer member, a drive unit, a detector and a controller. The transfer member moves between a recording medium changing position and a disc-like recording medium recording and/or reproducing position. The drive unit drives the transfer member. The detector continuously detects a position of the transfer member moved on the basis of a drive force from the drive unit in accordance with a movement of a movable part of the drive unit. The controller controls the drive unit so that a moving speed of the transfer member is slowed under the condition prior to arriving at the changing position and the recording/reproducing position of the transfer member on the basis of a detection signal from the detector.

    • A disc player has a disc receiver for supporting a disc thereon and a disc holder for directly holding a plurality of discs one over another at different heights with vertical intervals left therebetween without the need for movable disc trays or the like. The receiver is arranged in a disc reproducing position whereas the holder is disposed movably up and down adjacent to the disc reproducing position. A disc guide is also provided for linearly guiding desired one of the discs between the disc reproducing position and the corresponding height in the holder with the desired disc maintained at an outer periphery thereof in contact with the guide. The disc player is also provided with a disc transportation mechanism for pushing the desired disc at an outer peripheral portion thereof, said portion being located on a side opposite to the guide relative to a center of the desired disc, in a direction parallel to the guide, whereby the desired disc is transported between the corresponding height in the holder and the receiver.
