    • A microwave circuit connection method allows many coaxial cable connections between the outside world and microwave circuit components mounted on a carrier in a housing. A coaxial cable 32 extends through a sleeve 30, which is contained within the housing 1. A bore is provided through the carrier 2 for the coaxial cable 32 and is counterbored to form first and second bores 37 and 40 with different diameters. The dielectric 34 provided within the coaxial cable 32 extends through the first bore 37. The dielectric 34 is removed so that a center conductor 36 of the coaxial cable 32 extends through the second bore 40 to a point adjacent the MMIC 10 mounted to the carrier. An air dielectric section is thus formed in the second bore 40. The center conductor 36 of the coaxial cable 32 is attached, using a ribbon bonding cable 42, to an MMIC 10 mounted on the carrier 2.

    • A connecting structure for high frequency circuits is provided, with which components can be readily replaced, and which does not require high assembly accuracy and is applicable in a broad band. First and second circuit boards each having strip lines on top surfaces thereof are placed to secure a gap therebetween. Patch portions each constituting a resonator are formed by extending the width of the strip lines, and a supporting member of a foam material is placed on the top of the patch portion formed on the first circuit board. A parasitic element made of a dielectric material is cantilevered by the supporting member. The free end side of the parasitic element is placed above the patch portion formed on the second circuit board while securing a predetermined space between the parasitic element and this patch portion. A strong electrical connection is established by the parasitic element that electromagnetically couples non-continuing portions, thereby making it possible to cut a direct current.

    • An interconnection system for effecting the rapid connection and disconnection of facing components comprises male and female connectors. A first end of the male connector is generally rectangular. The second end has a cylindrical portion extending inwardly, an inner face, and radially extending flanges. Recesses are formed between the flanges and the first end. The female connector is configured to mate with the male. When in the locked state the flanges of the male connector form a coplanar coupling with receivers of the female connector.

    • A coaxial-to-microstrip vertical transition includes a dielectric substrate having formed on a first surface thereof a primary microstrip conductor trace, and on a second surface a secondary microstrip conductor trace. A first conductive via extends through the dielectric substrate and electrically connects the primary conductor trace to the secondary conductor trace. A second conductive via is spaced from the first conductive via and extends through the dielectric substrate to electrically connect the secondary conductor trace to the coaxial center conductor. A bottom microstrip ground plane layer is defined on the second substrate surface. A conductive base plate structure has a cavity formed therein, the substrate positioned such that the base plate structure is in contact with the bottom ground plane layer, and the secondary conductor trace is positioned over the cavity. The substrate is positioned between a cover structure and the base plate structure, the cover structure disposed in spaced relation with respect to the first surface of the substrate. A coaxial transmission line structure includes an outer shield and a coaxial center conductor structure disposed within the outer conductor and transverse to the substrate, the center conductor passed through an opening in the cover structure to contact the second via. A conductive plate structure is positioned between the plane of the cover structure and the substrate, providing shielding surrounding the center conductor between the cover and the substrate.

    • A coaxial connector includes a connector head housing with a recess adapted to receive, contact and clamp the end of the outer conductor of a coaxial cable. The connector head housing also has an inner conductor for contacting the inner conductor of the coaxial cable. The inner diameter of the recess is equal to the smallest outside diameter of the outer conductor of the respective cable type. Slots disposed in the wall of the recess make the wall resilient in the radial direction. The connector can be connected, in particular soldered, to the outer conductor of coaxial cables both in the factory and at the installation site, even if the coaxial cables have a relatively large diameter. This type of connector provides a particularly low intermodulation.

    • An interconnection system comprises mating male and female connectors. The male connector has a first end with an outer face and a second end with an inner face, an aperture passing through the center, radially extending flanges coplanar with the inner face and recesses formed between the flanges with a first circumference. The female connector has a central aperture passing there through, receivers with lips having an edge with the first circumference. When mated in the locked state, the flanges of the male connector form a coplanar coupling with the receivers of the female connector with the central apertures aligned and at least one bore passing through both connectors.
