    • A combustion burner includes an air supply case connected to an air supply mouth a position at a position on the air supply case from a rear end part to a tip portion thereof, which supplies air from air supply equipment; a nozzle body attached so as to cover a tip portion of the air supply case, and having a jet nozzle formed in a center part of the nozzle body; a fuel nozzle in the nozzle body so as to supply air from the air supply case through an air jet hole, placed between the tip perimeter part of the fuel nozzle and the jet nozzle, having a frusto-conically shaped fuel supply passage, and which supplies air from a tip portion thereof; a plurality of air guide holes provided between an outer circumferential portion of the fuel nozzle and the nozzle body so as to supply air from the air jet hole in a spiral pattern; a fuel supply support member in the fuel supply passage, which supplies fuel from at least two fuel supply holes in an opposite spiral pattern from the tip end of the fuel nozzle; and at least two fuel supply pipes, one end part of the fuel supply pipes being connected to the fuel supply holes, another end part thereof being connected to a fuel supply which supplies waste oil, heavy oil and the like; and a water supply, which supplies water, dirty water and the like. Water, air, and oil, including waste oil, heavy oil and the like are mixed as an emulsion at a top part of a nozzle and mixed fuel is burned at lower cost without dissociation of the emulsion. The combustion burner of the invention obviates the need for expensive equipment, including a mixer, heretofore conventionally required, and can be used independently of such mixing equipment.

    • An upright radiant electrical heater has a reflector assembly supporting a vertically-extending heating element assembly that radiates energy through substantially 360 degree. The reflector assembly includes heat reflective panels that disperse heat horizontally over substantially 90 degrees through an open grill at the front of the heater and vertically in a substantially uniform manner so that hot spots are avoided. A fan forces room air into the heater from below the reflector assembly, upwardly through an air passage behind the assembly into an open control chamber at the top of the heater, and outwardly into the room through ducts along the top front edge of the assembly. A thermostatic control for the heating element assembly and the fan motor is located in the air passage at the top of the heater. The flowing air maintains the exterior of the heater relatively cool to the touch, allowing parts of the housing to be molded from a thermoplastic material into aesthetically-pleasing shapes. Power is supplied to the heating element assembly by one or more cold wires including a horizontally-extending cold wire section located between the bottom of the heating element assembly and the top of the fan blade. The heating element assembly includes coiled resistance wires which are mounted in tension in order to reduce noise created by the heating element assembly when first energized.

    • A heater for burning fuel having a hollow enclosure with an air inlet, and a combustion gas outlet. The enclosure has an exterior heat exchange wall preferably directly exposed to ambient air and an interior surface defining a combustion chamber. The enclosure has a body with front and rear openings into which are fitted a front panel and a rear panel defining joints therebetween. The flow regulator can be adjusted to allow a given appliance to exhaust vent gases through a range of different venting systems constructed from a wide range of materials. The flow regulator also provides flow resistance which helps prevent backdrafting and the free escape of dilution air (which may be heated room air in some instances) through the vent to the outside atmosphere.

    • A combustion system for burning firewood including a combustion chamber defined by front, rear and side walls, a ceiling and a bottom. An access door is provided for addition of fuel into the combustion chamber. A substantial amount of combustion air enters the combustion chamber near the top of the fueling doors via apertures and is directed down the face of the fueling doors providing cooling. A geometry of the air metering orifice is either fixed or of limited adjustability such that the minimum flow of combustion air required for flaming combustion of a full load of fuel is maintained at all times. The combustion air flow cannot be reduced beyond a certain point and thus smoldering and very low air/fuel ratios are avoided. Since the air metering is tuned for proper flaming combustion with the largest expected fuel load and cannot be reduced further, fuel loads smaller than the design fuel load will result in higher air/fuel ratios, thus further ensuring that sufficient combustion air is present for sustained flaming. Furthermore, the minimum combustion air setting limits the amount of combustion air entering the combustion chamber such that too much air is not introduced resulting in inefficiency due to sensible heat loss, chemical loss (pollution), quenching of the flames, and undesirably high burn rates. Ideally, the burning rate of a full load of fuel is below 5 kg/hr, however, the maximum burn rate when burning a full load of fuel may be reduced to as low as 2 kg/hr depending on the size of the firebox and the desired maximum heating capacity of the appliance. Heat output is adjustable primarily by the amount of fuel added at each fuel loading.
