    • An exciter for an internal combustion engine igniter plug, comprises a continuous AC charging circuit and a discharge circuit. The discharge circuit is connectable to the plug and the charging circuit includes a transformer having a primary winding connectable to an AC power source and a secondary winding connected to the discharge circuit. The discharge circuit includes a storage capacitor connected to the transformer secondary winding such that current induced in the secondary charges the capacitor at a generally constant rate. A switching device is connected in series between the capacitor and the plug; and a trigger circuit triggers the switching device in response to charge on the capacitor; with the charging circuit and trigger circuit operating to maintain a generally constant spark rate. A current multiplier is also provided to substantially increase the peak currents delivered to the plug.

    • An improved glow-plug engine for use with a model airplane of the type that includes an output shaft for driving a propeller, a needle valve for controlling a flow of fuel into a carburetor, and a fuel line formed from resilient silicone rubber is provided, wherein the improvement comprises a pinch valve for controlling the flow of fuel through the fuel line which is located farther away from the propeller than the needle valve so that the fuel flow may be adjusted by the fingers of the engine's operator more safely. The pinch valve includes a valve body for securing a section of the resilient fuel line, and a pinching mechanism including a control member that is accurately extendible toward and retractable from a secured section of the fuel line to constrict or expand the fuel flow path defined by the secured section of the fuel line. In one embodiment, control member is a cam mounted on a lever which in turn is linked to a servo-mechanism. In another embodiment, the control member is a threaded rod that clampingly engages the section of tubing secured by the valve body. The pinch valve may be conveniently retrofitted on a conventional model airplane engine and used in combination with the needle valve, or it may supplant the needle valve.

    • A system for remotely starting model toy internal combustion engines, used for propulsion of the model toy, such as an airplane, helicopter, boat, automobile, or other similar vehicles. The starter mechanism being contained in a single case, coupled to a single gear attached to the model engines crankshaft. The starter case being sufficiently small so as to allow it to be mounted directly to the model toys internal combustion engine. An electrical starter motor attached to the starter mechanism case, for cranking the engine, operating from the internal batteries on board the model toy. A remotely controlled servo starting circuit that energizes the engines ignitor plug, allowing sufficient preheat time, and activates the starter motor, from signals provided by the radio receiver on board the model toy vehicle.

    • A source of gas pressure from an internal combustion engine is made available by tapping off the exhaust products within the combustion chamber, preferably just prior to exhausting the gas out of the engine. A pressure tap fitting communicates with the combustion chamber through the cylinder wall. The opening into the combustion chamber is closed off during most of the stroke of the engine by the skirt of the piston. As the piston, during the power stroke of the engine, is driven down the cylinder wall, the crown of the piston eventually clears the opening in the pressure tap. The exhaust gas, under very high pressure, enters the tap just prior to dumping the exhaust gas through the exhaust ports of the engine. Thus, a useful source of pressure is derived from the engine without affecting the operating efficiency of the engine.
