    • A flexible rib for use in conjunction with a vinyl liner clip track. The flexible rib has a clip extension which secures it to the clip track after a cantilever coping is installed. The flexible rib seals the gap created by the clip track and prevents injury by preventing a swimmer from inserting fingers into the gap. The flexible rib has a decorative facia that conceals the clip track. The facia can take a variety of shapes, including conventional shapes such as quarter round, cove, clam shaped, etc. The flexible rib can be fabricated from any flexible material, such as plastic, polyethylene, polypropylene, rubber, etc. The flexible rib can be formed as a single continuous strip that extends around the entire periphery of the swimming pool and sealed together with a single joint. Alternatively, it can be made from precut standard size segments of flexible rib which are installed and joined together at the installation site. The flexible rib will preferably be dyed to match or coordinate with the color selected for the vinyl lining. An optional illumination device is provided for use with the flexible rib. The illumination device can use fiber-optic leads to distribute light throughout the flexible rib. The distributed light may have a particular color, several colors, or periodically changing colors. The illumination device may be an integral part of the flexible rib, or alternatively, it may be secured to the illumination device. When activated, the illumination device will illuminate all or part of the edge of the swimming pool.

    • A structural foundation assembly for use with expansive and other soils. The foundation includes slab and wall assembly in which foundation walls are poured on an upper surface of a previously poured slab such that the slab supports the walls. The slab is poured in a slab form supported upon a center, elongate support beam that is supported by piers. The height of the piers and beam provide a void between the slab and soil to allow the soil to expand and contract. The wall is attached to the slab with angled connector members in the slab. The foundation includes a dam that has planar members positioned about the periphery of the slab contacting the soil and the slab to block soil from entering the void space. A sump pit is provided exterior to the slab and wall assembly with access provided by a window well in the foundation.

    • An internal compression mount for attaching hollow posts to a base surface. A substantially nullInull shaped post mount is fixedly attached to a bottom plate. The bottom plate and post mount may be leveled on the base surface with shims and leveling bolts. Threaded shafts may be inserted through a top plate, through the post mount, through the bottom plate, the base surface and through a mounting plate. The threaded shafts receive nuts, which are tightened to produce a compressive force on the post mount between the top plate and the mounting plate below the base surface. The compressive force between the base of the post mount and the mounting plate grasps the base surface in a vice like manner and securely affixes the post mount to the base surface. A hollow post can then slide in place over the post mount.
