摘要： Provided are: a sewing device provided with a sewing mechanism which performs sewing on a work to be sewn using a sewing-machine needle, while holding the work to be sewn in a state of being shaped in a predetermined shape on a plurality of seating portions arranged in a sewing direction; and a sewing method. When the seating portions are withdrawn from the work to be sewn so as to avoid interference between the sewing mechanism and the seating portions, a guiding mechanism enables movement in a first withdrawing direction for avoiding a first undercut portion of the work to be sewn, and movement in a second withdrawing direction for avoiding a second undercut portion of the work to be sewn.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for producing a reinforcement in the form of a sheet for a composite component, the reinforcement including superposed plies of thread. In accordance with the method, straight portions of thread are arranged, for each ply, at least substantially in a parallel fashion with respect to each other and all the superposed plies are consolidated by using a thread passing through the plies. According to the invention, the superposed plies are laid down on a support, the superposed plies are compacted by mechanical pressure, and in order to preserve the state of compaction of the plies which is thus obtained, the thread for consolidating the plies is stitched, without knotting, through the plies down to at least the level of the surface of the support, the plies having, after compaction, a density of the portions of the thread constituting them which is sufficient to retain the consolidating thread by friction.

摘要： A hopper is provided with an indexing side edge for controlling the movement of the longitudinal edge of the yet to be formed belt loop. A flat feed surface disposed in proximity to and cooperating with the indexing side edge enables one face of the loop to move toward the sewing station in a controlled manner. The device further employs a canted cantilever spring action on the opposite longitudinal edge of the belt loop, i.e. face-down and includes a top rake having a plurality spaced apart fingers substantially parallel with one another and parallel to the indexing side edge. The co-action of the fingers upon the loop causes the loop to lie flat on the feed surface of the hopper. The cantilever spring, in turn, is mounted on an attachable shoe which moves laterally of the feed surface to thusly be controlled and attached in accordance with the various widths of belt loop material.

Each side of the vamp portion of the boot is substantially folded in order to achieve registration with the previously registered and clamped boot shaft. The folded vamp is otherwise securely clamped so as to permit an automatic join and sew operation with respect to the registered and clamped flat boot shaft.

摘要： In a sewing machine, particularly one useful for producing piped pockets, wherein the pieces to be sewn to a workpiece include a slide fastener or zipper, a transfer device for transferring the slide fastener containing sewn pieces to the workpiece is provided. The transfer device includes a grip-fold stamp which is vertically movable toward the piece to be sewn which is held over a plate by vacuum, with the slide fastener held in a pocket of the plate. The grip-fold stamp is moved down to the plate and holds the area of the sewn piece adjacent to the slide fastener. A clamping strap on the grip-fold stamp is movable by an appropriate servoelement, either electromagnetic or air pressure cylinder, into the pocket in the plate and beneath the slide fastener for holding the sewn piece at the slide fastener at the underside of the grip-fold stamp. The clamping strap may be an arcuate piece that is shifted around the circular front of the grip-hold stamp to its clamping position or it may be a pivotally supported part which pivots to its clamping and releasing position. The clamping strap moves toward and with respect to a guide fixed to the underside for the grip-fold stamp.

摘要： This disclosure teaches an apparatus for manufacturing and stacking hemmed fabric pieces (usually pockets) with the hems either lined or unlined. In the case of lined hemmed fabric pieces, pieces of a liner tape are fed in cut lengths in turn along a path. Limp fabric pieces (the pockets) are inserted manually by an operator and are positioned automatically each on one of the liner pieces. A hem is formed out of a margin of the fabric piece around its related liner piece and a terminal margin flap is tucked under itself. The hem is sewn along the terminal flap. The hemmed lined fabric pieces are then inserted in turn into a cartridge upwardly and the cartridge is revolved about a vertical axis as successive of the hemmed lined fabric pieces are inserted therein so that uneven height caused by the hems is distributed about the stack. In the case of unlined fabric pieces, the apparatus functions substantially the same in positioning the limp fabric pieces, hemming and stacking.

摘要： This invention involves a pallet for use in automatic stitching machines which insures proper registration of a workpiece with respect to the stitching instruments and maintenance of such registration during machine operation. Basically, the pallet is constructed of two outer plates hinged together to form a sandwich type arrangement having openings therein to allow for access of the stitching instruments to the workpiece. These openings are generally identical and are accurately located with respect to the stitching instruments. In the interior of the pallet means are provided for removably securing the workpiece in accurate registration with the stitching instruments. The access openings may be designed to receive overlay or overlapping portions of a composite workpiece and additional outer or interior plates may be provided to accommodate a wide variety of workpieces. The pallet is removably secured to the supporting carriage of the automatic stitching machine in a position which is fixed in relation to the stitching head.
