    • A method for forming a plurality of pairs of fastening members is disclosed. Each fastening member extends in a longitudinal direction and in a lateral direction and comprises a base panel and a tab extending laterally from the base panel. The tab has first fastening materials laterally spacedly positioned. The method comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a continuous fastening composite web extending along a longitudinal direction; the continuous fastening composite web comprising two longitudinally extending first substrates laterally spacedly positioned, a longitudinally extending second substrate positioned between the two first substrates, and at least two longitudinally extending first fastening materials laterally spacedly positioned; each of the first substrate having a longitudinal outer side edge and a longitudinal inner side edge; the second substrate having a pair of longitudinal side edges; each of the first fastening material having a longitudinal inner side edge and a longitudinal outer side edge; wherein each of the longitudinal side edges of the second substrate is joined adjacent each of the longitudinal inner side edges of the first substrates, and each of the first fastening materials is joined on at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate to define a gap region between each of the longitudinal inner side edges of the first fastening materials and to define a pair of continuous panel regions between each of the longitudinal outer side edges of the first fastening materials and each of the longitudinal outer side edges of the first substrates; (b) cutting the continuous fastening composite web along a continuous cut line comprising a plurality of repeating patterns, each of the repeating patterns extending from one panel region through the two first fastening materials to reach the other panel region and extending to return from the other panel region through the two first fastening materials to reach the one panel region, thereby forming a pair of continuous fastening members, each continuous fastening member having a continuous panel region and a plurality of tabs, each tab having the two first fastening materials spacedly positioned; and (c) cutting each of the continuous fastening members across the continuous panel region, thereby forming a plurality of pairs of fastening members, each fastening member comprising the base panel and the tab.

    • A cutter, preferably a cheese cutter, for cutting food into consumer-size chunks. The cutter comprises a feed conveyor, slab drive apparatus for driving a slab along the feed conveyor, and a cutting harp adjacent the discharge end of the feed conveyor. The cutting harp has cutting devices which make cuts extending across an opening. A slab discharged from the conveyor passes through the central opening, and the cutting devices cut the food product in the direction of advance of the slab. Transverse harp drive apparatus drives the harp transverse to the direction of advance of the slab, severing chunks of product from the slab. A take-away conveyor takes the severed chunks away from the cutting harp, to a weighing device which weighs the chunks. A controller receives weights from the weighing device, and sends adjustment instructions to the slab drive apparatus to adjust subsequent weights of product cut from such slabs.

    • A process for obtaining disposable cleaning cloths is disclosed which consists in taking a fabric piece of a width corresponding to that of the cleaning cloth to be obtained and subjecting it to successive intermittent transversal cuts in the direction of the weft spaced according to the length of the cleaning cloth. The cuts prevent unravelling and help the user to detach each cleaning cloth individually from the rest of the piece. The cleaning cloths have longitudinal edges which may not be unravelled in the direction of the warp. If the piece of fabric is of a width which is a multiple of the envisaged width of the cleaning cloths, longitudinal cuts are made in the piece of fabric spaced apart from each other in the direction of the warp after which intermittent transversal cuts are made.The resulting cleaning cloth consists of a rectangular portion of fabric whose four edges may not be unravelled.

    • An improved method for severing a large area semiconductor device, including a substrate having a base electrode region thereupon, semiconductor body and top electrode into smaller area devices includes the steps of supporting the semiconductor device from the top electrode side thereof and applying a cutting force to the substrate side of the semiconductor device so as to cut the device without establishing short circuit contact between the substrate electrode and the top electrode thereof.     • A cut-to-size saw mechanism having a dual, programable control system is provided for large sheet material, as plywood, hardboard, chipboard, fiberboard, and other large panels to be divided into small pieces by sawing. Sheet sizes in the range of 5 .times. 18' can be cut with a main strip or strips and a side, residual strip, with the residual having a maximum width up to a predetermined amount, such as 2'. Where desired, cutting patterns necessitate two asymmetrical patterns, the saw mechanism can be programmed to trim all 4 edges of a panel, divide the panel into main and residual longitudinal strips and cut the main strip or strips in one pattern length and the residual strip in another selected pattern length. All sawing is done while the panels or strips thereof are held by hold-down rolls, thereby assuring precision sawing. All sawing of the entire panel is programmed by thumb switches from a control panel and the same program may be repeated on subsequent panels until the programming is changed.
