摘要： The application describes breakable seal for a container, bag, pouch or reusable envelope which is closed by one part locating over a second part, the second part having an opening for receiving the head of the breakable seal which locks into the opening in such a manner that it cannot be removed without breaking, the seal in its inserted position locking the first part in place over the second part in a tamper evident fashion. The seal has an extended neck portion between the line of weakness and the main body part of the seal. Typically said one part is the fastener tab of the zipped opening of a reusable envelope and the second part is the enclosure or chamber of a lock unit mounted on the envelope, adjacent one end of the zipped opening.

The head contains a locking tang and a guide channel that receives the strap after encirclement of items to be harnessed. The tang engages the rungs of the ladder strap for the adjustable retention of the harnessed items. The free end of the strap has a light-weight webbed tail that facilitates the insertion of the strap into the head. The strap is advantageously molded of a stretch reorientable material and is subsequently stretched to produce a suitable strengthening and elongation of the webbed tail.

摘要： There are disclosed two embodiments of a fastener, a method of using a fastener, and a fragmentary portion of a mold. The fastener has a socket and a head joined by a flexible filament. The socket has a disc-shaped body, a transverse opening through the body, projections extending into the opening, and a post joined to each projection. The posts extend into the space within a side wall of the opening. The projections flex when the head is inserted through the opening, but the posts prevent attempted withdrawal of the head through the opening thereby preventing uncoupling of the head from the socket. The projections are so close that when the head is inserted into the socket, some of the plastics polymeric material of the projections deforms permanently, thereby work hardening the projections at the deformation.

摘要： A seal formed of molded resilient plastic material, including a housing through which a shackle is passed, said housing having internal integral shackle engaging fingers. The shackle is provided with annular shoulders for engagement by the fingers so that the shackle can be drawn through the housing in one direction, but is prevented from retrograde movement. The end portion of the shackle is provided with annular enlarged portions which may be drawn through the housing without excessive pulling force being required, yet provides a surface providing for gripping by the fingers. A portion of the shackle between two adjacent annular shoulders is provided with a weakened portion to insure that when sufficient tension is applied, the shackle will fracture at that position, with said position being predetermined for the application in which the seal is to be used, so that the fracture occurs within the housing.
