    • A locking device for locking an opening-and-closing moving body in a stopped position includes a striker body disposed on one of a striking part of the opening-and-closing moving body and a struck part of a non-moving body hitting against the striking part of the moving body in the stopped position, and a catcher body disposed on the other of the striking part of the moving body and the struck part of the non-moving body. The catcher body includes an inner part with a receiving part for receiving the striker body, an outer part for holding the inner part, a forcing device for urging the inner part, and a damping device for damping the inner part. The forcing device urges the inner part to engage the outer part and stop when the inner part is situated in a forward position.

    • A latch for ovens and the like includes a latch subassembly movable between latching and unlatching positions, a high temperature locking pawl engageable with the latch subassembly at a preselected elevated temperature to block its movement to unlatching position, and a thermal element which moves the locking pawl into blocking position. First adjustment means is provided to engage the locking pawl during its movement from a nonblocking position to the blocking position so as to locate its abutment surface in a predetermined position in the path of movement of the latch subassembly. Second adjustment means is also provided and is engageable with the locking pawl during its movement from blocking position to non-blocking position so as to locate the abutment surface on the pawl in a predetermined position. As a result, the length of the path of movement of the pawl between its two positions and the disposition of the pawl in its blocking position may be readily adjusted to compensate for variations in temperature conditions and thermal gradients between ovens and thermal elements in ovens of different models and manufacturers.

    • A lock for sliding doors including a first door and a second door slidable with respect to a second door. The lock is mounted on the second door and has a housing engaging the side surface of the frame of said second door. The housing has an inner wall adjacent the frame of the first door, an outer wall and an intermediate wall between the inner and outer walls. A plunger is slidable in openings in the outer, intermediate and inner walls. Spring means yieldingly urge the plunger outwardly. The opening in the outer wall has a noncircular configuration, the opening in said intermediate wall has a similar configuration but circumferentially oriented with respect to the opening in said outer wall, and the shaft has a laterally extending projection corresponding to the configuration of the openings in said inner and outer wall. The first door has an opening therein into which the plunger extends such that the plunger can be held outwardly out of locking position by moving the shaft and rotating the same so that the projection thereon moves through the opening in the intermediate wall and the opening in the outer wall and engages the outer surface of the outer wall and the lock may be engaged by rotating the shaft such that the projection thereon permits movement of the shaft under the action of the spring means through the opening in the outer wall and thereafter further rotation of the shaft permits movement of the shaft and the projection thereon through the opening in the intermediate wall so that the shaft engages the opening in the first door and is held against movement axially outwardly by engagement of the projection thereon with the inner surface of the intermediate wall.
